Anyone else getting this when they open the Public Mobile app? Seems like a marketing ploy, as the deals haven't really changed in over a week and I fail to see how all of the sudden the servers are crashing. Funny though...

I got the same thing. It’s entirely possible their sites are overwhelmed or they’re having server issues.

The plan link says the deals don't end until December 2. There is no immediate rush. The server crashes were the worst back when the 2016 fall promo was a hot deal. The crash created so much havoc for support that it took more than 2 weeks to clear the backlog. A buddy had included a number port in the activation that failed. He had no service for 10 days. I get criticized a lot for being stubborn about doing number porting as a separate step. Certain events leave emotional scars.

web browser here also. I get the waiting room...but if I click the back button, my PM account loads up immediately.

@golfball Yes, but it would be better than Black Friday 2023 where the server crashed for several hours. If a queue system avoids that, I'm all for it. As long as it's legit and they're not just playing games and wasting our time.

If there were some must have deals I could see this queue being frustrating when combined with the auto logout. I went to check self serve to help someone earlier and had to wait 8 minutes.

That's interesting. For me it appeared when I attempted to open the app. Once I was in the app I could do whatever I wanted.

Urgency for what? I have not time for this, so I just closed the tab. I will try again another day. The points are not going to go stale.

@fixin1 That's certainly the concept of an online waiting room, yes. I deal with similar systems when trying to booking camping or rec programs such as swimming lessons. I just find it hard to believe that the Public Mobile servers are suddenly overwhelmed when the deals haven't really changed in over a week. Maybe, but I have my doubts.

I just waited, through it didn't take the full 9 minutes that it originally said (it probably took 5). I think it's just a game to build a sense or urgency. It's clever.
