Hi,
Concerning the new Canada-US-Mexico plans, who is the roaming partner? (Telcel, Movistar,…)
Also, calls in Mexico to Mexico or calls in Mexico to Canada are included in these plans?
thanks!
Solved! Go to Solution.
yesterday
Just used this plan in Mexico last month.
I had roaming on and let it auto connect. It depends on where I was for which provider it connected too. It will only connect to the network you have access too so I just let that do its thing.
Sometimes I did find my data slowed down or wouldn't work great. But I just turned my phone to airplane mode for 30 seconds than back to regular mode, and it seemed to fix the problem. But I have to do that everywhere it seems.
Your phone works like it works in Canada. You can call, text, or use the data to call Canada or the US or Mexico. It was very good. We didn't have any problems with the data, texting, or receiving phone calls. However, we couldn't seem to call out but I figured it out by using the star symbol before my phone number. So
* 1 XXX-XXX-XXXX
That is all. Definitly a great plan!

Hi everyone!
So following up on this topic, here is my experience.
The first provided network is AT&T. Works pretty well in most areas where I’m visiting (Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico).
Note that depending on the location you are, you may experience network disruptions. It may look like you have 4 bar service on LTE but actually you have no connection. I’m guessing this is in egress issue with the network equipment.
My suggestion: keep your network selection on manual instead of automatic. When AT&T is having issues with connectivity, quickly switch to TELCEL or Movistar. To know how if you’re connected to the internet, do a quick google search.
This process can be hard or frustrating for some but take the time to understand your phone settings before leaving. Having the option to select the best network depending on geographical location is a powerful advantage.
So, to quickly resume, pretty happy with the roaming plan. Avoids the headaches to getting a SIM card & all!
If I can provide any additional help, let me know!

I just signed up today but realize the E SIM card is not working.
I'll be in Mexico soon for a few weeks, so I'll update on how good or bad it is

@Whiner23 If you have a Can/US/Mex plan, then yes you can text or call from Mexico to Canada (among many other combinations).
Anyone calling you from Canada will still be dialing your Canadian phone number, so it doesn't make a difference to them where in the world you are.

Has anyone used this recently in Mexico?

So you can text or call from Mexico to Canada.
However, do Canadians need a long distance plan to text or call you in Mexico?

ALTAN AT&T AT&T Nextel Telcel Telefonica.
In the area in in (Jalisco), it has connected to both telcel and at&t smoothly

Nobody knows. It might not happen. Public Mobile only annouces these things when it's meant to be public knowledge and not before.

I asked the question before I signed up and the response I had from a customer service agent was "When arriving there, make sure to connect to one of the carriers listed below: ALTAN AT&T AT&T Nextel Telcel Telefonica And make sure to turn on Data Roaming from the phone settings." I, personally, keep my phone on data roaming and have the network setting as LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) and didn't have any issues connecting on any trips to USA this past year. I am currently in Jalisco and I am sometimes going through Telcel and sometimes through ATT, it works great. Hope this helps

I was just thinking of that. I used a friends referal link to create the first account but I dont think it worked?? I didnt see a $10 credit at all when I signed up the other day so I must have done it wrong? I did use my daughters phone, clicked his referal link then chose a subscription plan. Not sure why it didnt work.

@shewer Yes the CAN/US/MEX plans are very popular and perfect snow bird plans to call to and from all 3 countries from all 3 countries using calling text and data with no additional roaming charge as roaming is built into the plan itself
adding @shewer be sure to use your daughters refferal code to create second account with new email for your other daughter to reward both accounts and lower the bill for both accounts

Thanks!! I think I will switch my other daughters phone right now! She is on Telus with a call only plan with no data and has been asking for data forever. This will be very helpful in mexico if we get separated and can use the 2 plans to communicate. Telus daily roaming charges are expensive to add to everyones phones lol.

@shewer It includes it all. You can text to anywhere in the world from Mexico. You can call to Mexico, US, and Canada while in Mexico. You can call to Mexico from Canada etc. All of the above.

We are going to Mexico tomorrow and just got Public Mobile on my daughters phone. With this plan we can use data and make calls plus text without roaming charges? or is it just text back to canada thats included?

Looks like one person has used this service in Mexico. No concerns so far.

@aaronsantos wrote:Are people able to text using the can mex us plan from mexico to Canada? if so are there any extra charges or is it unlimited?
It's included in the plan (no extra charges on top of the plan price) and it is unlimited.

@Dunkman good find! Nice to see they clarified that incoming text will work in Mexico without a roaming plan or add-on (for OTP in particular).
Side note, but I remember 15 or so years ago using about 8MB (not GB) of data in Mexico and receiving a bill for almost $500 😅 We've sure come A LONG way.

Here is some more information:
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/ab/get-help/articles/mex-subscription
According to FAQ, Public Mobile shares the same roaming partners in Mexico as TELUS. The specific provider you connect to will depend on your location and the available providers.
11-22-2024 05:17 PM
On the calling question it should included similar to the current legacy CAN/US plan (ie: able to call the US while in CAN, and while in the US can call within the US and back to CAN). Would presume the calling features including MEX are the same. PM hasn't updated any of their website info to include this yet.

Awesome! Thanks!

@miKe00 AT&T is one for sure could be others but it’s the only one I know for sure that works so far as these plans are so new to public mobile

HI @miKe00
No confirmation from anyone yet. But people on Telus confirmed they roam using AT&T. So, for sure AT&T is a roaming partner, not sure if more than that
