I just switched to the new points reward system and I want to cancel

bloom84

I just switched mindlessly to the new point system but something tells me it was a mistake.

How can I cancel this change ? I was getting 10$ off my monthly bill.

If I end up paying more monthly after this switch, I'm going to have to seriously reconsider my business with Public, as this is not a good way to treat loyal clients.

Yes, I know. But, I was mindlessly switch to Public point program . And, I am using $25 plan in that moment.

I means if I downgrade my $25 plan to $15. You told me that I can keep all my add-ons and holiday gifts. I understand that.

Do you think I will back to OLD reward program? Or I till on Public point program?

Thank you very much for your help

@Kelvin_HellBoy

sorry, rewards system is something you moved and cannot come back 😞

Hi,

I accidently switch to Public point program. If I switch from $25 plan to $15 plan, can I have autopay & loyalty reward again? Just like to restart my old plan? How about my Public point will it reset to 0 point?

@Kelvin_HellBoy no worry, you won't lost your holiday bonus minutes and data. Those add-ons are stay with your account and not the plan, so you can go ahead with the plan change

My I have your advice? If I Schedule a change my plan from $25 to the $15 plan. Will I lost any of holiday giveway min. DATA...add-ons? Anyway, I already swithched Publice Point and lost all my reward. Why not to switch to $15 plan. Is that your idea?

Some companies (Bell) add a lot of small print at the bottom which can say things like *Price subject to change, etc. regardless of what contract/deal/offer is.

@bloom84

Well that sucks. But admittedly you switched mindlessly now you have to deal with the consequences. There is no going back I've tried with an account I manage and its not possible even if it was 100% pm's fault. There are far worse outcomes from mindlessly signing up for something but that's neither here nor there now.

If you can get a great deal with your home network provider then I suggest the following:

  1. Schedule a change plan on next renewal to the $15 plan.
  2. Activate after your renewal date with the other provider.
  3. If you have dual sim phone then use both Sim cards or see point #4.
  4. Call forward your pm number to your new provider phone number.
  5. If you want use Mighty text to forward your texts as well.
  6. Use your 65+points to redeem for bill credits and discounted add ons like 10 day US Roaming add ons that are discounted between 25% and 50% off the regular purchase price.
  7. Once you have exhausted the points balance suspend it if you are close to getting your 10 anniversary points to redeem them as well otherwise port out.
  8. If your phone number is not vital to you then you can suspend for 88/90 days and use it for a data account when needed or for 30 days when reactivation is necessary. Time the reactivation to occur during the month of December to take advantage of the likely "more is merrier" bonus add ons further builds up your data bank. Redeem points for discounted data add ons rather than bill credits will extend the life of your data bank or at the very least you can maintain the account for at least two years.
  9. Suspending before midnight eastern on day 30 should keep your voicemail active while suspended. Change your voicemail message to include your new provider phone number so your contacts can continue to reach you.
  10. Good Luck.

I wasn't happy with the 30% rate hike to my $10 plan in the spring nor with the CCTS ruling on pm breaking the terms of service. Oh well....after reactivating it took me 6 weeks to refer 3 more customers.....back to free. You could do the same if you want to be proactive and get back to a similar discount that you had previously....or go further like regulars do in the community and just get pm to pay you to be their customer. 🤔😁

>  clicking 2 times is all it takes to lose your rewards

PM has been done a great job letting existing members to keep the old rewatds.  You will only loss this benefit if you don't read carefully and clicked 2 times.  The arrangement is definitely fair from what I see.  My opinion:)

As I mentioned earlier, many businesses would simply force you into their "better" new rewards system by just giving 30 days notice.  You don't even have a chance to click 2 times.  Compare with other reward system changes, there is really nothing to protest here.

Enjoy your new service.

@bloom84

I feel your pain, I understand your frustration.

I don't know why you are getting so much static from the members but I will tell you I sympathize and I hope you take all things into consideration before making the switch.

I have 4 lines with public and two of them are now on the $15 plan, with all rewards they are charged around $10 monthly. I keep them alive for my two kids who mostly sit on home data. Eventually I will lock them in on a higher plan when I get a sale that is too good to refuse.

My wife and I are on the $40 plan and we pay $35 with rewards and I recently switched them to 4g for free using the latest sale.

I'm a bit annoyed I waited too long for the 20gb $55 plan, I should have locked those in for my wife and I but I reckon if I wait we will probably see something similar again.

So what you can do is downgrade to a minimum and wait or simply come back when you see a sale you like.

Anyways, good luck, don't despair, in the cell phone world there is always another sale around the corner.

@bloom84   You should submit your concerns to either customer support/J_PM (community manager) or both as I'm sure you're aware that we (as fellow customers) have no control over how PM went about both introducing and then setting up the terms regarding the new points and most of us are in full agreement that it's unfortunate that PM doesn't have a small window for customers to switch back once realizing their mistake.

OTH, there are at least a couple of steps before you get to click the final acceptance and there's some sort of warning that you won't be able to switch back either.    BTW, most of us do sympathize with you (and others) who have had buyer's remorse after switching but also realize that the customer is also partly to blame by not reading through at the final step.

However, you have every right to move to another carrier that is offering better value and probably the best thing about prepaid is that you're not locked into a longer term contract.  Good luck with the new carrier.

Sure it's a valuable lesson.

As I said, previously with PM, I was used to being treated nicely with offers that I accepted w/o reading the fine print.

There absolutely has to be a consequence for "baiting" me into losing most of my rewards.

That consequence is loss of business in my case.

Those here who are just simping for PM and are almost happy that someone a bit too distracted being baited into losing their rewards, I wonder what your reaction will be when they pull the plug on your stuff ? If as an old customer I've been baited into this, then you guys are probably next.

So long !

@bloom84   happy you found one!!

But be more alert when your new provider introduces new rewards system.  Take my "opinion", any reward system change are going for worse (for customers)  than better

Enjoy your new provider  🙂

Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

By the way, they were 100% still making a profit with me even with my rewards.

Now they will be making 0$ profits off of me.
I wonder whose mistake it is ?

bloom84
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

The provider I'm switching to has a lot of rewards for me. I'm already an Internet/cable client, I have gigs of bandwidth rewards and other perks stacked for my "future phone plan"... which by the way is more or less the same thing, at more or less the same price as far as I'm concerned... Oh well !

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

You made the mistake.  I did the research first, then decided it was absolutely not a good idea. You can't possibly blame the company for your ignorance 🤔

Grow up and be accountable.  Trust me, nobody will contact you to fix your mistake.  🙄

You should switch.  Then blame the next company for your next mistake.

@bloom84   you should know most rewards program changes are going for worse than better.

My favourite examples, McDonalds got rid of the 7 coffees for 1 free and went with the point system.  You have no choice, the force you into it

Another example, ,Starbucks "upgrade' their rewards system with points, you can get more different items to redeem  but you need more points to redeem anything.  You have no choice and  they migrated you all

My favourite cash back credit card goes from 2% to 1.5% to just 1% in the last couple years, I have no choice

"this is not a good way to treat loyal clients".. but this is the business way

With PM Rewards, at least they gave you the choice.  No one force to migrate you.  You were given a chance to understand and you chooe to  migrate yourself.

Understand you don't like it and you want to roll back. No, no such option as you clearly warned and you accepted it.   But a least  the new reward system still give you saving that other provider not giving you   Yes, you are going from A LOT of reward $ into less, but you sure you want to go from A LOT of reward $ into NO reward at all?

BTW, you picked the wrong solution.  That is not the solution to your problem  🙂

bloom84
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

That pretty much sums it up.

They make it sound like an upgrade, when it's a downgrade.

I've always accepted offers from Public Mobile w/o reading the fine print for 7+ years.

I thought it was another good offer, so I clicked Accept.

Now I'm screwed.

I'm going to juice the Points stuff and switch to another provider once I'm done.

End of story.
Next !

Nobody here would move to points. Nobody here would recommend it. Nobody here works here. Nobody here likes that they brought this in.

There are some minor benefits with points. Buying add-ons for one. Getting into draws.

I'm not interested.

Adios.

Before leaving...see if you can't take advantage of the Points you've already accumulated so far.
