Every time they cut rewards it gets worse. I went from having a bill paid for every month to paying 8/12 months. Garbage. I worked hard plugging public to get there, brought them a tonne of business.

Agreed. Locked into $15 a month but this is still a disappointing announcement, mildly annoying too! I actually am about to replace a battery and screen of my phone at a mobile klinik so that is quite useful. Depends what we all want out of these programs eh

Yes I know. I worked for a national retailer. Once the audit was done on unspent loyalty rewards it could have been very crushing. So the plan was watered down. I’m taking about at least 20-25 years ago. Now that fantastic retailer is gone.

the 3 tiers have difference service, PM is at the bottom tier, of course services not the same

and your profile just created couple days ago.. So, you never take part in the publicly supported program, you missed lots of discount (or you have another accounts?) 🙂

points are all cut in half... this is a public supported program... so that means our value is 1/2 of what it was???
It was bad enough when you went from a cash rebate (best plan) to a point plan with nothing I want in points, got rid of your used phones, and now even the points are cut in half. Pretty certain I am also not getting my referral points anymore either.Very unfortunate that your business model has moved from a publicly supported program with cash discounts for helping out to a worthless point program. @schumway this has nothing to do with Community Rewards they are staying the same as they are (for now) this is only changing Anniversary rewards and Points Back from 5% to 2%
Taken me a bit to get in here to respond to this, but have voiced my displeasure to this in a different area. Just another way that things are getting costlier for PM customers.

I am also not happy they are cutting the rewards back, I was enjoying a nice kick back because of the ten people I helped sign on with PM, however after everyone stops complaining, including myself, it comes down to dollars and cents, bottom line if I pay less then then the competition I won't move. I see people say how much xyz carrier is but for people like myself that do not live in the big cities I need a service that works when I get out of there service area, we use a Telus back bone shared with Bell so I have great coverage where ever I go and that's what I want. Until then bottom line for me is coverage and cheapest rate possible, I know people that pay $90/mth at Telus for Canada coverage while I'm getting CAN-USA-MEX for $35/mth so for myself I'm staying and I think most people will do the same......

I have the same PLAN, if I can find something else more suitable. I will leave too.

This is a good point. I would also like to see the ability to receive SMS messages while roaming internationally without any add ons. SMS messages is so critical these days due to authentication.

a bit upset that even Anniversary bonus got cut in half
08-14-2025 05:32 PM
Really disappointing.

Hahahahahahahha not surprised at all , this the cheap and poor direction public mobile is going . And with the CSA increasingly present reply’s to customers it’s just matter of time before the start to lower community help rewards . Even now there’s less community involvement rewards to go around and some might say it’s alone with the volume of help needed wether that’s true or not the writing is on the wall as far as I’m concerned and public mobile will just be the same ole boring cell phone service provider as the rest of the competition. Shame on you public mobile !!! You’re gonna doom yourself as many customers jump ship out of spite and it will be funny to watch their fall . Sure do miss the public mobile of yesterday with old legacy rewards and with so many poor decisions on your part I’ll pleased to watch you fad away into obscurity

Many leaned from last year complaining there won't work. They have confirmed Reward program is not something under their jurisdiction
08-14-2025 02:21 PM
hi @Grinch
all rewards system with any company is always like that
Air Canada just change their Aeroplan, used to be by flying miles, everyone on the same flight got the same. Going to change to by the amount you paid for your ticket.. majority will have wore rewards points
08-14-2025 02:17 PM
This is very typical with any points program. Water it down. Make it harder to receive a reward. Eventually they discontinue it.
PM, like Telus, is squeezing every cent possible from us.
In the case of PM water down points. Can't go back to a lower cost plan.
Telus Home Services.
Water down the points. Will begin to charge $7 for each email address. Have a tiered loyalty program and encourage you to move up by buying more services.
And both Telus and PM continue with poor customer service and relationships with their customers. Nothing sets them apart from other service providers.
My plan, since the last BIG change on the loyalty program PM, is to go from 3 mobile plans to 2 and shop for best rates for the different levels of service needed. Bottom line I won't be spending as much at PM or Telus.

Almost better to cut out the rewards program altogether, and just focus on providing the best rates/plans possible, and save the hassle of maintaining a rewards program.
On a $35 plan, 5% reward is $1.75 and 2% reward is $0.70. Even saving up for a $15 bill credit will end up taking up to 22 months instead of 9 months.

@hTideGnow - It sucks. At least RAF and Community points aren't changing. Maybe it is to make way of a new feature? I think the Legacy rewards removal last year was bad, but then a few months later a Mexico roaming plan appeared. Maybe it will pave way for another feature.

This isn't something that the CCTS would investigate. Companies are allowed to make changes.

Attrition. Make policies less friendly to the existing, less profitable folks. Do "promos" later to attract new, more profitable customers.
08-14-2025 01:15 PM
Considering the points rewards catalogue has next to nothing that interest me, I've only used points to pay my bill (and get an add-on one time). I'm still locked into the 15/month subscription, so until I need to have data on my plan, I'm good. Let those points trickle in, I guess. At least I can go to Neo Financial and Mobile Klinik without using points... whatever those things are!

I am sadden to see the public points program getting worse instead of better.
I have said it before and I’ll say it again. If Public Mobile is going to make things cost more for a customer, make it dead simple to justify it. Sadly, they haven’t.
When the points program replaced the old rewards system, it already felt like a step back. Instead of addressing its shortcomings or making it better than the old program, it was made worse.
Now, not only do things cost more and require more effort from us, but we’re also earning fewer points than before. On top of that, you can’t even downgrade to a lower-cost plan to offset the difference for those of us who are on a budget.
I really wish the focus had been on improving the program instead of stripping away the value it used to have.

Disappointing indeed!!
But, I've learned awhile back not to be shocked at anything anymore. I just take jt in stride.
My anniversary date is somewhere around late September or early October, so let's see if I will get my last 10 points...
08-14-2025 01:02 PM
Why even have it at all? It's practically down to nothing now. Just a waste of my time going in and redeeming, like, what, a buck? once a year lol
08-14-2025 01:00 PM
$15 plan has gone for sometime. And honest, most providers no longer have the $15 plan
08-14-2025 01:00 PM
I haven't gotten this yet, but obviously it's coming. All I can do is to stop counting points in my total-cost-of-service calculations. From this point, as far as I'm concerned, the listed price is the price. They can make this decision, and all of us can make our decisions on whether to leave.
08-14-2025 01:00 PM
What a joke, the rewards system from a few years ago was why I signed up. Then they take a sledgehammer to it, and now are reducing what little is left by half? I will be switching carriers as soon as I can, and j will also suggest my referrals leave publicmobile too.. it's only a matter of time before they take away my referral rewards too.
What a stupid cost saving idea. Let's all show them how much revenue they will lose by treating their loyal customers like garbage and exodus this terrible carrier.
