Public mobile is at it again cleaning out customers pockets just got this text informing me my plan will go up $3 , this after removing legacy rewards then reducing points value and adding 911 charges and now this lovely new unnecessary $ grab to old loyal customers well done public you once again found away to disappoint . And all this still without offering wifi calling such a shame BOO !

I got same text message; will then the plan automatically change to the 18$ plan, including 1GB data?

I am not happy with public mobile....
First they mess with the rewards structure, and now the want to increase the $15 plan. I am looking at all other options but I am not jumping ship just yet. People that currently have the 1gb plan could possibly see an increase too. If you jump to that one, you cant go back down.

After many years I have rarely needed more than 100 min/mo.. If I call a long-winded caller, I ask them to call back. Furthermore, if I run over 100 mins, the excess are taken out of my bucket of Canada-wide or international minutes that were gifted to us years ago.

Your option to solve that issue is to use a free IP soft-phone that works over WiFi like https://www.fongo.com/. This is what I used when I was on the 100 min outgoing plan before getting the "free" upgrade to 500 MB and unlimited calling. Doing this has its drawbacks (it doesn't look like you're calling from your "registered" phone number but they don't usually use this as a means of authentication because it's so easy to spoof) and you might have to tell your friends you have a second number for outgoing calls but to only call you at your main number (since Fongo only works on data/WiFi). But this is cost for saving the $3 at this point. Pick your poison.

@slusagm wrote:which $15 plan is that? 250Mb or the newer one with 500Mb?
do you still see $18 for 1GB ? if $15 plan change to $18, then get the $18 for 1GB for better value
Not if you used the 100LD minutes

hi @EB0
every situation is different. I can't deny you can find cheaper plan from some. But most prepaid Tier 3 has minimum plan $19 and over
For many of use, there are friend referrals which still make the $18 plan cheaper than competitors

Yes we could switch to $18 for 1 GB plan now but will we get a notice of a $3 price increase on that one too? Better to do nothing and be paying $18 post Oct 30 that risk paying $21.

@Nezgar wrote:Well this sucks, I have 4 plans on the $15/500MB level. If they're going up to $18 (+911 fee) then might as well just switch to this $18 for 1GB at the same price at that point.
And see what is missing? The 100 LD minutes.

It's absolutely ridiculous that they keep taking away all of the perks that made PM different from all the other carries. I've been a PM customer for 5+ years and switched my family over as well and now to see this endless stream of changes that just takes more and more away from consumers.... I'm truly fed up with this....time to switch to Freedom Mobile.

@Hawkeye1315 wrote:Basically, it means you're better off with the minimum postpaid plan if you don't need more than 100 mins of outgoing calls...
Unless you live under the bridge you do NEED more than 100 outgoing minutes per month.
Just one call to a bank or government will put you on hold for hours and your 100 min will be gone in a day.

At $18 for the new 1GB or the $15 plan 500MB (and the legacy 250MB plan) is expensive compared to competitors. Many others provide annual plans at a lower cost. Without the benefit of substantial referral discounts, it's difficult to justify staying with your service over more affordable alternatives.

I just got a notification that my $15. Plan is increasing to $18. Oct 31/25 but I can’t see any update in Community or Lounge.

Not sure just started checking the other providers in desperate search of something better , and yes your right I won’t go because of refferals for now , but if the pendulum keeps swinging one sided and keeps pik pocketing my pockets then I might just have to move on outta spite , which seems to be public mobiles rationale , if we can’t get them to upgrade plan price on their own accord we will just hike the price on those silly buggers down the road to remind them who’s BOSS
09-25-2025 11:43 AM
is that prepaid?
but I know you won't change to it, you still have lots of referrals.
Yes, for those with referrals, PM could still be a better place

Seems like they want us to move to Koodo
they still offer $15 plan

Does anyone know what will happen to subscription add-ons if you try to switch your plan on PM? Do you loose everything?
All your bonuses and add-on stay with your account as they are not tied up with the Plan but account/phone number.

hi all,
I want to add, none of the prepaid tier 3 carrier offers $15 plan anymore. The cheapest they offer is $19, so the $18 plan is still better for monthly plan on any prepaid carriers. Of course if you see the $18 1GB plan, change it, it is better than stuck with 250Mb or 500Mb with the same price
09-25-2025 11:37 AM
If their plan was for me to cancel my plan, they've succeeded.

And to be clear, the CRTC mandates that the minimum postpaid plan include 250MB of data with no overage charges. Basically, it means you're better off with the minimum postpaid plan if you don't need more than 100 mins of outgoing calls...but you'd have to switch to another (postpaid) carrier and you might have to ask for the min plan specifically as they are not mandated to advertise the plan.

hi @ORNGNBLK
but those $35 Canada-US roaming plan are better deals compare with others. Try promote your friends for that
09-25-2025 11:26 AM
@user100001 try login again using browser with Incognito mode. From what we understand, people on $15 and $13 plan will see the $18 deal
btw, those on $13 , are you seeing the price hike too?
09-25-2025 11:26 AM
@Handy1 This is not a surprise, but still unfortunate news. I’ve relied on Referrals to help me lower my bill, but now it’s harder than ever to get folks to switch to PM when the plan offerings and benefits (anniversary and %back) are dwindling. Thanks for posting.

It's the 500mb plan with 100 minutes for hong kong china etc. and canada wide minutes.
I see $18 for 1gb, but this is such a horrible way to do business.
09-25-2025 11:25 AM
I also recieved this text saying they are increasing my $15 plan to $18. Dont see any existing $18 dollar plans in AB, only ones that start at $20 (see attached image).
Having been through similar experiences with Koodo, now Public Mobile, Telus is the ultimate slumlord. Do we really believe that these costs they are putting onto consumers are the costs of inflation and infrastructure? The way Telus runs Public Mobile is like a form of indentured servitude for the customer and to be honest the diminishing returns of 'points' or 'contests' to incentivise our participation around a false sense of community is nauseating.
The lack of transparency in justifying these increases is appalling. Where are the regulators?
3 dollars here, 3 dollars there adds up, so we shouldnt be so naive as to assume that this is just the cost of doing business. I dont know about any of you, but this cost of living stuff is about to get real for the average consumer just trying to get by.
Telus made $20.4 billion CAD in 2024!
i think its important to recognize that these tactics of the recent increases are part of how they fill those coffers.

But is this true!!! TEXT was from 4011 yet does not show in my usage of numbers called and texts etc.
