Just curious what the justification is for a 20% increase?

Since there are different versions of the $15 plan, is it all $15 plans or just some?

Will there be any improvements to the $18 plan?

I will have to cancel a PM account as I just cannot afford it.

And what happened to the CTRC mandated $15 plan? Is it from Koodo, Telus or PM?

The new $15/$18 plan.

I see what's happened; the overview shows me the current plan while my payments confirm that it will renew to the different plan, and because my next plan is the 18/month one, that one isn't visible (can't change to the plan you're already on). Sorry to confuse anyone! Logged in on my desktop and it shows this now.

It happened to me previously as well. Try logging out and back in again, that resolved the problem for me.

it is still there, I just changed it after I see what you said

@slusagm  , @Hawkeye1315  thank you for the tip, I just set it to change on plan renewal date (next pay cycle).
But I'm curious, how do you know it would not have changed so automatically? I would only make sense, since the price matches.

I am interpreting the text message verbatim - there is no mention of getting 1 GB of data. PM would love to charge the same amount and provide less - it's a business after all.

your current $15 plan will increase by $3 .. the plan stays the same. Your Xmas bonuses will stay with you

If you decided to upgrade plans, you can never go back to the $15 plan.

Hello,

I'm just wondering if it will be he exact same  plan or do we get any add one for that 3 dollar hike? I've been with Public for 8 years and there are other competitors still at 15$. Anyone know?

Update edit: It successfully changed over to the 18/month plan, which is why it doesn't show in the list. My overview shows the "current" plan (15/month) but upcoming payments confirm the 18/month plan is still available.

The next action plan for public mobile could be reducing the referral points or get rid of it completely. I hope not.

hi @EB0

let's hope not.  But enjoy the saving now and worry about it when it comes.  No point to leave if your rewards savings still make it cheaper

@Grinch @Handy1  @Nezgar  anyone has the $15 - 500MB plan with 4G also get that notice?

Yep I "upgraded" all four of my lines a few months ago from the $15/250MB plan to the $15/500MB unlimited calling plan, and got that SMS a few hours ago, as well as 1 friend on the same plan who's mentioned it to me already this morning...

Confused here regarding plans, if I just let the increase take effect does that mean I don’t get unlimited talk and 1 gb data upgrade?  And being a long time member I have lots of extra Xmas bonuses built up…do I lose those if I choose the change option upon renewal?

@Vic55

you have to make sure you click Change on Renewal

Maybe I should clarify....the legacy $60 Canada/U$ roaming plan from 2019.

hi @RavingRaven

i don't recall anyone can change to $15 plan from $60.  I guess you were lucky

Yeah it's true no point staying with Public shee when they raise plan prices on their customers...

@hTideGnow

I've never had the $13 plan. I joined Public Mobile for the $60/8gb Canada/US Roaming plan which i kept until I took early retirement from my job. That's when I switched to the original $15 plan.

No, only the price of your current plan will change. If you want to benefit from the 1GB data, you have to initiate a plan change to that plan specifically.

hTideGnow

hi @RavingRaven so, you finally change your $13 plan to $15?  You should have changed it earlier so you enjoy the cheaper plan for longer

Do you still have $13 plan? any price hike for that?

@Eister

for new subscribers, no $18 choice

but for your own account, existing subscriber, you should see the $18 plan there.  Check it and make the change

@Vic55 wrote:

I got same text message; will then the plan automatically change to the 18$ plan, including 1GB data?

@Vic55

No, you have to make a plan change yourself.  Login My Account, go to Change Subscription and choose the $18 1GB, make  plan change using Change on Renewal

I am not happy with public mobile....

First they mess with the rewards structure, and now the want to increase the $15 plan. I am looking at all other options but I am not jumping ship just yet. People that currently have the 1gb plan could possibly see an increase too. If you jump to that one, you cant go back down.

  • I have received the notification  that my $15. Plan is being increased to $18. Oct. 30/25 and to check out other plans. But the least expensive I see is $20., so does that mean there is no $18. Plan for new members?  I’m not really technical and wondering if I’m missing something.  What is the easiest way to keep track of any new plan offerings?
    Many thanks!

After many years I have rarely needed more than 100 min/mo.. If I call a long-winded caller, I ask them to call back. Furthermore, if I run over 100 mins, the excess are taken out of my bucket of Canada-wide or international minutes that were gifted to us years ago.

Hawkeye1315

Your option to solve that issue is to use a free IP soft-phone that works over WiFi like https://www.fongo.com/. This is what I used when I was on the 100 min outgoing plan before getting the "free" upgrade to 500 MB and unlimited calling. Doing this has its drawbacks (it doesn't look like you're calling from your "registered" phone number but they don't usually use this as a means of authentication because it's so easy to spoof) and you might have to tell your friends you have a second number for outgoing calls but to only call you at your main number (since Fongo only works on data/WiFi). But this is cost for saving the $3 at this point. Pick your poison.

which $15 plan is that? 250Mb or the newer one with 500Mb?

do you still see $18 for 1GB ? if $15 plan change to $18, then get the $18 for 1GB for better value

Not if you used the 100LD minutes

hi @EB0

every situation is different.  I can't deny you can find cheaper plan from some.  But most prepaid Tier 3 has minimum plan $19 and over

For many of use, there are friend referrals which still make the $18 plan cheaper  than competitors

Robbwell

Yes we could switch to $18 for 1 GB plan now but will we get a notice of a $3 price increase on that one too? Better to do nothing and be paying $18 post Oct 30 that risk paying $21.

Well this sucks, I have 4 plans on the $15/500MB level. If they're going up to $18 (+911 fee) then might as well just switch to this $18 for 1GB at the same price at that point.

And see what is missing? The 100 LD minutes.

It's absolutely ridiculous that they keep taking away all of the perks that made PM different from all the other carries.   I've been a PM customer for 5+ years and switched my family over as well and now to see this endless stream of changes that just takes more and more away from consumers.... I'm truly fed up with this....time to switch to Freedom Mobile.
