As long as you are in Canada, you can receive texts from anywhere in the world with the current inmarket plans.

@Nick67   yes, get a local prepaid SIM, I used Lebara myself.  

Then download VoIP app like TextNow, Fongo or Talkatone.   You can call and receive calls for free

Yes you can call the UK for a heck of a lot cheaper than they can call you. But if you go to the UK you can get a local sim card and service for a heck of a lot cheaper than we pay here....just don't call home....lol!

International minutes (as add-on) are for use to call certain countries FROM Canada only.

You will not be able to place nor receive calls in UK with your PM plan.

Hi @Nick67   , sorry, those are LD minutes are for calls originated from Canada.    So, you can call UK but when you are UK, you won't have PM service

@Nick67   Those international LD minutes can only be used to make and receive calls from the applicable countries while you are in Canada.  PM doesn't have roaming options for anywhere except 10 day packages for the US.

@Nick67   No, the International minutes are to call from Canada to various different countries.  NOT for receiving calls in another country. 

To get service in another country, you will need roaming. But PM only offers roaming in US with a fee and no other country
