@wetcoaster   isn't that ALL PM accounts need a SIM card?

@Verti what exact model is your phone?

You likely don't need a new sim card for your iPhone as your current phone has one already.  Bring your phone to any cellular store and ask them where is the sim card, (yes, tell them you want to upgrade and change provider, the sales will be gladly to help)

Just in case you need a new sim card, then get a new PM sim card from local Telus or Koodo store or get it from Amazon:

OK, I have to be the one with the stupid questions (despite not liking the yelling...)

How old is that old phone? Are you using it with Public Mobile currently?

- If it really does not have a SIM, was sourced through a Canadian provider and is older than 8 or so years it would be a CDMA phone. Canadian carriers have stopped supporting CDMA in 2017...

- After 2017 (I think) some devices started having eSIM capability. Phones on the Canadian market still have a slot for a physical SIM but would be able to accommodate the eSIM technology. Public Mobile does not support eSIM at this point.

As reference point, just in case it's a CDMA unit from the US: It looks like the last (?) CDMA network (Verizon) went offline end of last year.

Do you have PM plan? If you do, make sure your current sim card is Nano sim card, otherwise you need buy a new sim card from Telus or Koodo store because iPhone use Nano sim card. Your old phone may use "Mini" or "Micro" sim card.

Throw the old phone away... no physical sim card, so you can't just transfer it over. You'll have to buy a new sim from Public Mobile, activate it and put it into whatever iPhone you have.

@Verti

Do you currently have service with pm? What make and model is your old phone? If it has a removable battery then a sim card is usually inserted under or adjacent to the battery after removing the battery.

You can then determine if it's a tri-cut Sim card that can be re-sized by snapping the smaller sized micro or nano Sim card out of the frame so that it fits the Sim card slot of your iPhone.

If the Sim card is really old and is not a tri-cut Sim card you can either replace it with a new Sim card and performing a Sim swap in your self serve account or get the Sim card re-sized professionally or do it yourself using a template to carefully trim the Sim card into the appropriate size.

To get a Public Mobile SIM card faster, try a corporate TELUS or Koodo location, or Mobile Klinik.   If you're an existing customer, log into self-serve under your Profile tab to update the SIM card number associated with your account.

Call ahead to ensure they have stock.   Here's a store locator:

ADDING:   Make CERTAIN your device does not have a SIM card in it first.   See @maximum_gato post below for information on that.

Most modern phones require SIM.

You will have to buy PM SIM, activate it, create account and transfer your number to PM.

@Verti

you'll need a phone that has a sim slot. Here's a link to some good used phones that PM sells. All phones include a PM sim.  Each phone comes with a warranty as well....

A SIM card will need to be purchased from Public Mobile. At Publicmobile.ca, they are available for $10 each.
