I recently signed up for public mobile and then a week later I got a new phone. How do I transfer the esim to the new device?

Thank you, @slusagm. I’ll continue opening tickets as needed. I also want to take this opportunity to commend the support team for their rapid turnaround on these tickets.

@stfn74 , it was actually "normal". The system might charge your eSIM sometimes even it said free. But you can ask support to reimburse. Just open ticket with PM using the Orange Chatbot icon on the lower right. (For 2FA when login, you might need to use email to receive if you cannot receive the text on the phone.) Type the question Submit ticket and select Contact Us to get to ticket open screen
or message them using this link:

OK, something isn’t right. I keep getting charged for eSIM purchases, even though everyone says that these should be free for existing customers. Due to the nature of my work, I occasionally swap phones, so I need a new eSIM every time. The last time I wasn’t charged for this was on January 2nd. After that, I was charged on January 12th, January 24th (refunded after contacting a CS Agent as @hTideGnow suggested above), and February 1st.
Something must have changed between January 2nd and 12th. I can keep contacting the CS Agent, but I shouldn’t have to, from what I understand.
I’m following up on this thread, but let me know if I need to open a new one.

Hi, is this still true as of today? The reason I’m asking is that I’ve swapped phones a couple of times before and activated new eSIMs, and they were indeed free (actually, $5 with a $5 discount applied). However, today when I swapped again, there was no discount—I was charged $5 plus tax.

Hi all, just wanted to clear up some confusion. If you're already with Public Mobile and are looking to transfer your Public Mobile eSIM to a new device you've purchased, it will not cost you anything. You only pay the eSIM fee if it's your first time purchasing an eSIM with Public Mobile!

Worked fine for me, maybe this was added later. I didn't touch any thing with the old phone, just purchased a 2nd e-sim on the new phone, installed it, and the old phone disconnected from the network automatically.

To rebuy new eSIM, First, download the app on your new phone, click ⊕ or ⧁ at the bottom left to bring up the menu and go to Subscription & Add-on page, scroll down to the bottom and click Shop SIM Card Now. You can buy and install eSIM from there

HI @v2k604
download the app on your phone, go to Subscription & Addon and then Shop sim card, pick eSIM
but if your phone still accept physical sim, i suggest you to go back physical sim. It is easier and free to change phone with physical sim

I'm stuck on this now, all the support says you need to buy another eSIM on the app, but it's nowhere to be found. How do I get a SIM/eSIM?
06-19-2023 08:28 PM
@tomasd No, no luck. I message support and confirmed that at the moment, the system limitation still there, ie, you have to go back to physical sim 😞

Thank you. I wrote support earlier and they didn't mention that option, in fact they specifically said it wasn't possible. Where did you hear about this? Would you be able to share a link that I could provide to support when I contact them?
06-19-2023 07:36 PM
@tomasd you might be lucky!!!
look like new development as of today. I see people posted saying support able to sell a new eSIM for $5 for used on new phone
So, please message support to confirm. And if that is now doable, please reply here and let us know, and share the steps to do so. Thanks

HI @tomasd
get the sim card from Telus or Koodo store or Amazon
Then go to My Account, Profile page, there is a sim card number there, click on it and you can update to the new sim card number. Use a computer to go through that, someone reported issues using a phone.
06-19-2023 05:42 PM
And how would I do that?
06-19-2023 05:42 PM
Thanks, so how do I switch to a physical sim card?
06-19-2023 05:36 PM
HI @tomasd yes, there is no porting within same provider. PM no longer swap numbers between 2 accounts now
So, in your case, there is really nothing you can do other than getting a physical sim
06-19-2023 05:32 PM
But how would that work? Could I "port" my number from the current e-sim to the new e-sim? I've never heard of porting within the same carrier.

06-19-2023 02:33 PM
Thanks, I guess my time with Public Mobile is going to be very short. I'll be porting away now.

@tomasd sorry, it has been confirmed that no esim transfer to another phone , or even if the esim profile was deleted. These functions will be available later, but not at the moment 😞
you can message support again to confirm , you can message them here:
06-19-2023 02:30 PM
I can't do that, I have a different sim card in the physical slot.
06-19-2023 02:30 PM
@tomasd sorry, at this momentn, eSIM cannot be transferred.
If you are going with your new phone, you will need to change it back to Physical sim
