Provider is saying number is not transferred

mblake_77

I got a sim card, activated it and got my phone unlocked, got public Mobile showing on my phone with service, but when I contacted my other provider to cancel the service, they said that the number is not transferred.  Also, when you call my number, it goes straight to voicemail.

@mblake_77   Glad it work.

Try to make call your cell number from a landline and confirm the incoming calls working as well

Looks like it is transferred now, my old sim card no longer works, so I put in my Public Mobile one and got service.  Thanks everyone that replied.

It's the new carrier (Public Mobile) that needs to be contacted to get the porting completed.

Talk to your old provider and see if you have to initiate porting again. Then leave old SIM in a phone and reply Yes when you get SMS from them.

If you need porting assistance from PM side, ask for a PM porting number and one of us will send it to you by private message.

If you missed the text within 90 minutes window after your previous carrier sent you the SMS text…you need to contact a CS_Agent or the porting will not be completed.

@mblake_77  - Yes, insert the old SIM card, Public Mobile should resend the request if you just activated today.

See helpful porting info.

Remember, do not cancel your previous provider's service, or Public mobile cannot fully take ownership of the number.

Welcome to Public Mobile !

K, so I think I know what I did wrong, I put in the public mobile sim card first before getting the text, I will put my old sim card back in to see if I can get it to restart the transfer process

@mblake_77  - the porting is still in progress.

Cell numbers take 2-3 to complete.

Landline / voip can take 3+ days to complete.

Incoming calls are usually the last to port over.

If this number came from a previous cell number, ensure you insert your old provider's SIM card to approve the SMS text to port over. Or the port will fail.

If you done this, reboot your phone and perform a reset of you network settings.

Don't cancel your previous provider's service. When calls come through that is a good sign porting is complete.
