Check to see if there any app that can use data without your notice you can control that in settings

@Amorrison , I am looking for a  provider with free data and free voice myself too.. let us know where you got one..

@Amorrison

Public mobile is different from other providers....it is the only one that gives you the opportunity to bring your monthly plan cost to $0. But nothing in life is simply free. You have to work at it to reduce your bill by taking advantage of the rewards offered here. Those of us that do have a combination of the autopay reward ($2), loyalty ( $1 per year up to $5), friend referrals ($1 per friend) and volunteer considerable time helping out in the community ($1 up to $15/$20 for oracles).

If you would like to hang out in the community with us and learn exactly how public mobile works you can be on your way to earning some rewards to help reduce the cost of your plan. There are many ways to reduce your overall data usage, where, when and how to use your mobile data practically and how to take advantage of your home or free wifi. Mobile data in Canada is expensive. Public mobiles prices are reasonable for low data users, average for medium data users but for high data users  there are better prices out there but be prepared  to pay on average $75 per month for large alottments of "unlimited" data.

Figure out what your monthly budget is......how much data you need and we can help advise you. If your not attached to your phone number you can just jump every 3 to 6 months from promo to promo activating a new sim card each time. If that's the case go have a look at CCS , register a new email with the current promotion and message me and I will tell you how to stack the promos for the best deal. To save money at pm you either short term it or long haul it.

Actually data, voice and text ALL cost the company nothing to provide. Well... except for the Billions it costs buy spectrum, provision a network across the country and keep it working as well as upgrading it all the time. And the annual payments to keep using the spectrum purchased for hundreds of millions plus monthly fees to the owner of the location of the cell sites etc. Because of these small nickel and dimming expenses the network providers decided that free wasn’t a good model, they will need to charge for what they provide. Thus the current model you see before you.

Public Mobile isn't an independent cell provider, they are the bottom tier provider from Telus. They appeal to people who want the lowest cost service possible. If they were to throw the doors open, full LTE speeds for all customers and while at it made it unlimited data (because “it costs them nothing to do so”  how many customers would stay at Telus and Koodo? They would ALL migrate to PM with the much better priced plans. And that would be the day that Telus stopped providing new or better service to the less urban areas and the massive expense of 5G roll out would be cancelled.

I sort of like the model we have where the Telus customers that “can’t live” without the fastest LTE speeds pay for the network and we get to tag along at much lower cost by being limited to “3G Like Speeds” and having to get customer service “online instead of on the phone” just to keep it from being too good for everyone else to resist!

@Amorrison

Once promotional or gifted data is consumed, it's gone.

That would be the same with any carrier.  Important part is to read details and offer terms.

@Amorrison

Don't see why it was ridiculous

They did specify clearly  that the extra data is a one time offer.

Data might cost them no much but this is a business and they need to make money still.  They are not obligated to give it out for free

There are different price plan for different needs and budget.   PM  is a Tier 3 provider and it definitely has quiet some plans on the low range for budget customers or low usage customers.

@Amorrison , Is the issue that you do not have unlimited data or the quality of data you are receiving?

If you are looking for unlimited data that is not something Public Mobile currently offers. You may need to go elsewhere if this platform does not suit your needs.

@Amorrison ,

There was also this one I was thinking you were talking about:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/Lunar-New-Year-Offer/td-p/648251

"To celebrate Lunar New Year, for a limited time only, Public Mobile customers can get a 1GB data bonus every month for 8 months, plus a one-time add on of 500 China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau long distance minutes on select plans. "

@Amorrison

The new years promo was 2nd month free and 5GB data add on.  Was this the promotion that you signed up for?

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/New-Year-Savings-Get-your-second-month-...

As stated above, it is a one time 5GB bonus add on.  Unused portion does roll over to next month until all used up.  Once used up, the add on is gone.  It was not a monthly re-occuring bonus data add on.

Check your account under usage history.  If you need additional data, you can purchase a 1GB add-on for $15.

@Amorrison

I am not certain which promo that was (there were so many!) but all promo data is temporary. It is usually a one time add-on that supplements your monthly data amount until it is used up... IE: a one time data block that you tap into when you use up your normal data allowance too soon in a month. The unused portion of the add-on data rolls over each month until it is all gone.

Some other promos are a bonus amount of data each 30 days for x number of months until that comes to an end. That bonus data doesn’t roll over each month.

@Amorrison ,

Your Data in your plan gets replenished on every renewal. But any promo addons do not come back after being used up.

Unless this was the promo where you get extra data for so many months after activation, is that the one you are talking about?

Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of that promo and confirm the details.

If there is something amiss you can inquire about it with the Moderators.

If you are finding that the included data in your current plan is not enough, I suggest getting one with more data.
