There are pros and cons to each. However, “taking measures” here is overstating things. If you have eSIM installed when you reset an iPhone, it will ask you if you want them removed. You simply say no. I reset my iPhone several times a few months ago in diagnosing a device issue and never felt my eSIM was at risk.

Whoa @Charlie007c , you've asked this substantially similar question at least once in the past couple of months re e-SIM .

Have you rebought an e-SIM more than once in the past while?

Perhaps another reason going to physical SIM might save you some time and headaches since WAAY easier to move from device to device.

I might recommend, if available, that you instead purchase a Public Mobile physical SIM card to place in your new device.   You can get this at a corporate TELUS or Koodo branded location.

The benefit to physical SIM cards is they can be moved from device to device, whereas the e-SIM cannot.   Also, if you happen to need to factory reset your device from scratch, the e-SIM would also be rendered useless unless you take measures to ensure it's not included in the reset.

@Charlie007c  You need to re buy one . With new iPhone download the app and log into your  account . And go to subscriptions add on page . Notice at bottom it says shop sim now .select  it and choose eSIM  and download  and instal . That’s it
