I want to keep my phone number and use e-sim instead of a sim card.
Public mobile website suggests to purchase e-sim through mobile app.
However, mobile app only allows to purchase a new sim for $10, e-sim is $5.
I am using an app to manage e-sim and this app can scan the QR code of a new e-sim.
How do I get the e-sim QR code from Public mobile and how do I keep my phone number?

Thank you everyone. I ended up with dual sim solution.

@Vbridan Someone else had this problem the other day, where the esim purchase option didn't show up on the app but did on the website. I think in the end they contacted customer service to assist, you can do that by opening a ticket at the chat icon bottom right of this page, or send a private message using this link if the chatbot isn't helpful

@Vbridan what phone (and model) are you looking to buy the eSIM for? Maybe your phone is not compatible? My iPhone shows the option to buy the eSIM or the physical SIM. eSIM purchase should show up under the option "Purchase SIM Card"

Thanks, but as I mentioned the mobile app only allows actual sim purchase for $10, and I do not see any options to buy an esim. I do see this option on a regular Public Mobile site but when I click on it , it advises to use the app.
Catch 22

@Vbridan, please note that with the eSIM anytime you get a new cell phone you will need to purchase another eSIM as they are not transferrable between devices but with a physical SIM card you just take it out of your old phone and place it in the new phone, no more purchases needed.

hi @Vbridan
you are in the right place for esim with the app
and no worry about QR code. The reason to get the app to buy esim is that the app will install the esim for you, so technically you don't need to scan QR code.
and as long as you download the app and login with the email address that linked to the phone number, it will be all good keeping the phone number

@Vbridan keeping the same phone number is no problem. All you need to do is purchase the eSIM option from the app and the app will step you through the process of updating your account to use it. Public Mobile also emails a QR code but the app should take care of it for you
