Important Update: eSIM QR Code Now Included in Activation Summary Emails

Hi Community,

We're happy to share some news that aims to make your eSIM installation process smoother and easier. As of June 15, we've started including an eSIM QR code in our activation summary emails.

Why does this matter?

If you encounter any difficulties downloading your eSIM during activation in the app, you now have a quick and easy solution - the QR code provided in your email. To effectively use this feature, open the email on a different device so that you can scan the QR code with the phone you want to use for your Public Mobile service. This lets you download your eSIM directly, and once done, you can log back into the app as an existing user. 

This enhancement is part of our ongoing commitment to streamline our services and provide you with the best possible experience.

Took me a while to figure it out. Make sure to update your phone. Or the app won’t work properly. It kept saying my phone was not compatible before I updated it. After you can access the app properly, then you can get a QR code. But don’t use the camera app to scan the QR code. Go to settings and activate eSIM. There you will have an option to scan eSIM QR code!

These community forms are great! I need to install the PM app on my daughter's phone with a different email and then scan the QR code to her phone. The QR code was the hiccup it seems. I wish that part was more seamless

It certainly is frustrating when you've made the decision to go with this provider. I ended up purchasing an actual sim through Amazon. Since those first few days the service has been excellent compared to my previous provider. It would be great if PM was able to clean up those initial hiccups that some encounter because the service afterwards has been great. I suggest you ask customer service to explain if you're options for an ESIM can't be fulfilled and why. They covered my cost of the sim. Hopefully it works out for you.

We had the same experience with the esim not working and the phone not being activated...No QR email either...Want to cancel subscription

We did not receive an email with any QR code and the phone is not able to call out or receive texts. I want to cancel my subscription.

the QR code can be found on the Welcome email

but if you used the app to subscribe, the app should have installed that for you.  If you  have trouble installing esim, message support agent

How can I get my eSIM QR code?

I just purchased and the activation failed due to ESIM NOT INSTALLED. I did not receive a welcome email despite my payment going through. 
The CS agent stated that they could not assist with the welcome email or QR code because my phone number being transferred was not saved on their end during the activation attempt and that the esim can only be generated during that process. They claim my only option is to go to a store to purchase a physical card and then go through the installation and activation. 

I have an S22 Ultra and have used esims before. I checked to see if the esim was in fact installed but not activated (it is not). I have made sure that all previous esims on my device were cleared. I have rebooted and tried again. I deleted the app, rebooted, reinstalled the app and tried again.  How is this so difficult?

I signed up for Public Mobile about half an hour ago and I was not able to activate my iPhone 13 with eSIM. Received an error saying eSIM failed to download. I also haven’t received the welcome email with the QR code. How long does it take to receive the welcome email?

I also didn’t get a we code i. The email - I didn’t get an email - I tried again a second time and same thing. It actually never got past the pay and download screen - I was charged for both anyway

Hi, I signed up with PM with physical SIM card thinking that the SIM card will arrived in 2 days but it did not happen. I would like to change my subscription to eSIM so that I can switch over to PM ASAP. Can someone tell me how can I do it?

Now I stuck in the activation page without a physical SIM card number.

@TimmyS - Hmmm, really odd. The activation summary should be in your email used to sign up with Public Mobile.

@Kel708 did you use the app at all?? if your activate using the browser, after payment step, you will need the app to complete the rest of the activation 

If you used the app and got to step 6 of the activation and still not working, Give PM another chance. Message support agent for help (or for refund)

No QR code I received. Where is QR for activation. Mobile Only took money and no reply after.

How can I cancel this. It's so frustrating for 24hours. 

@AlexDud Your app store location has to be set to Canada. If that's not possible, then you'll need to find someone else with access to the Canadian app store to download it on their device to complete the activation. Once activated they can delete the app and you can manage the account via the web.

I'm not familiar with the esim process, so hopefully someone else can jump in to answer that part.
