Hello,
I moved two weeks ago to Gaspesie, Quebec and since then my sim is giving me problems a lot of times:
- sometimes it does not connect to the internet
- sometimes it says that the sim is not in the phone even if it is
- sometimes I'm not able to make any phone calls
The sim has always worked perfectly until I was in Ottawa, Ontario but as soon as I moved here I had to deal with all this, so I wanted to know what could be the problem.
Thank you.

I'm not so sure any provider will be particularly great. The main concern with any third tier provider will be voice calls on the 3G network until VoLTE is implemented. The workaround would be to install a voip provider app like textnow or fongo and choose a Canadian phone number to call forward your unreachable setting to the voip phone number. This would have to be performed when you are in an area with 3G network coverage. Whenever your phone cannot connect to the 3G network your calls will ring thru to your voip phone number for free while on wifi or when you have 4G LTE network coverage.
The following maps show 3G and 4G network coverage for your general area.
But you can also check Bell coverage since they operate a shared network across Canada with Telus.
You can also try the maps yourself here....

Or local cell tower networks....
And the cell tower map here...

It could be coverage issue, not cell tower close by. Check with other people what kind of providers they use and their experience with mobile technology.
Or it could be your phone is at the end of life...

Looks like the coverage in Gaspesie is not very good.
Here is the PM coverage map:

@pascalseba if your sim card worked perfect before , could be you move away the wireless tower.

@pascalseba usually "No SIM card" is a device problem and not network
What you should do first is to try reseat the sim card. Power down the phone first, then take the sim card out for a minute , then put it back in tightly and power up again
Also, it would be best to put your sim card in another phone and try for couple days
