As you all might be aware of OnePlus phones or any other generic Android phone not sold by carriers in Canada historically won't support VoLTE when making out going call.
I confirmed that with OnePlus 11 over a year ago. But, did something change?
See attached image I found on Reddit.
I've seen false positives before on Reddit.
Does anyone have a OnePlus 11 or higher device or similar to try and see if VoLTE works when placing an outgoing call?
From what I read Public Mobile is the only carrier so far to have done this.
Need confirmation to validate this.

APN and MMS settings are unrelated to voice services, and are also unrelated to VoLTE service. The APN settings can be wrong or data can be turned off and VoLTE will still work. I've checked on my device, and data services are not needed/do not need to be enabled to be able to use VoLTE.

@Nezgar Keep trying. The only concerning thing about Huawei is that they were considered to be a security risk in Canada-US, I'm not sure if all of their phones are blocked from VoLTE regardless of the changes.
Preferably, if someone has a OnePlus phone or Nothing phone to try that would be great!
There's some other obscure brands too of course lol.

@pc8202 Did you try restarting the phone and placing an outgoing call? Does it still revert back to 3G?
Based on Public Mobile official response VoLTE apparently should work with Telus, Koodo, and Public.
(Telus is the first carrier in Canada to make such changes apparently).

Somewhat related. One of my kids has a OnePlus that has volte but because it's not on Telus whitelist, I get charge $3 per month for using 3g calling. Lol.

Family member has a Huawei P30 originally From SaskTel/Bell, and it's still dropping to 3G for calls after a restart but I haven't had enough time with it to see if there's any [hidden] menu options to tweak to enable it yet either.

Yeah seems like now any phone with might work.
OnePlus phones finally will work properly in Canada. This is big news! Someone should notify MobileSyrup lol

Roaming in US:
All VoLTE-enabled devices can now automatically connect to our U.S. roaming partners without restrictions, except for Koodo Prepaid.
This update only applies to U.S. roaming — all other international roaming destinations remain unchanged.

I can vouch that it appears Public Mobile have recently started doing away with their VoLTE whitelist. I have a Umidigi phone that was VoLTE functional when the feature rolled out initially. VoLTE was lost when the whitelist came out. Recently, I was able to get it back.
As for VoLTE phone calls on the US, I believe that the calling feature is controlled by Public Mobile because all calls or any usage routes back to Canada and is filtered by Public Mobile. The only reason why customers are not able to navigate calls while in the US is because they didn't have a 3G network to support calls when Public Mobile forces non whitelisted phones to make calls on 3G only. Anyway I saw this day coming because there would eventually be a loss of customers when the 3G network is shut down. Why should customers stay with a service that indiscriminately blocks VoLTE calls when other brands don't do that.

@ipro31 You would still be able to text and use data it would just be using voice for calls that became the issue in the U.S. . But if buying new phone iPhone / Samsung are usually safe bet for best possible experience with public mobile

If Public did it, good chance Telus did the same.
But based on community post you shared seems like even if VoLTE would work in Canada, VoLTE might not be supported while roaming.
It's still would be hard to spend well over $1000+ for a OnePlus phone for example and find out the hard way Public changes their mind randomly about it or fact that roaming won't work.
You would not only have to test it in Canada, you would have to go to Niagara Falls, NY or closest US town and see if VoLTE works while roaming too lol.
If VoLTE doesn't work in US it's even worse because then you can't use data and can't make calls.

I am aware of that list. But, it's possible if Public Mobile made a change they may have not updated the list yet.
The only way to know for sure is do a real world test.
Does anyone have a OnePlus 11, or OnePlus 12 similar device to see if outgoing call reverts to 3G or remains on LTE?
This is the only way to get confirmation.
I'm very certain nothing has changed and assume whitelist was removed Telus would've followed instantly and Public would have an official statement (Not do it silently).

I believe we saw some reported that their phones have VoLTE too even not on the list, but we don't have enough number to say that is indeed true
I believe there are still tier 3 carriers not support VoLTE at this time
