Hello,

I set up auto debit on my credit card on 25th July, the payment supposed to be taken is $13 ($15-$2), but I have just noticed on my credit card statement its been charged as $42.30, also its not showing any balance in my account. I dont understand why have they overcharged?

Thanks

Yea, I agree to 14.43, but there is another charge of 42.30 appearing as cash advance Fonds, I never took a cash advance and it is charged at the same time when 14.43, bank says talk to the merchant.....

Call your bank back. Public Mobile didn't charge the $42.30. Cash advance could be from a purchase of a money order or somerhing similar or possibly relates to how your bank records transactions if you go over the credit limit.  The service fee also seems to give some type of clue. In any event, this charge isn"t by Public Mobile.

Is it possible that there was a bill payment of $42.30 to be made but instead a transfer from the credit card to a bank account was done by accident?

@natahir2 : I seem to think that there are some purchases that would arrive at the bank looking like a cash advance. Or that they would classify as a cash advance. But again...who's the merchant?

You asking is good.....but if not showing responsibility to help you...you might want to start a dispute. Who knows....it might be totally out of your area. Have you used the card for any online purchases or given the number only for something? Any ways....the onus is on the bank to inform you.

Thanks, I will speak to bank again, who is the merchant, also, I have researched over google this name Fonds appears when you pay for direct debit set up through RBC CC, its happening to me first time though, thats why doubt goes to PM, however, I shall dig it out further with the bank. I never took a cash advance even don't carry this card with me and use it very rarely. Its on safe place at home, and no once has access to it.

Thanks for everyone's comments, I shall get back after getting a reply from the bank and post it for others that what happened actually.

Not a 40 withdrawal plus a fee.

And $38.11 plus taxes is $42.30. And 38.11 is and odd purchase price.....unless for gasoline.

Your RBC statement is a perfect match to the PM billing. I would be calling RBC about the $42.30. But do some deep thinking first....and ask what did I buy or why is a cash advance $42.30 and not $40.....unless there is a service charge. May be there are some RBC customers reading this. Does some one have access to your card?

Launch investigation with bank. It isn't anything to do with PM. Did anyone else have access to your credit card ? (hubby/wife, kids, girlfriend/boyfriend, nice neighbour ?)

@natahir2 : The bank needs to tell you who the merchant was. That doesn't look like anything from here. Maybe your card has been compromised.

$14.43 looks like charge of $13 for PM plan + 11% tax. So it looks like you are in Saskatchewan as they charge 11%

SaskatchewanGST + PST6%5% 11%

Looks OK to me for how much PM charged you. Did somebody use your card 'by accident' not letting you know?

@natahir2 : Ditto. How do you relate the cash advance to here? The $14.43 is the right charge for here.

Everything looks clear to me.

Cash advance of $42.30 is cash advance. Why do you think it has to do anything with PM?

Did you purchase any add ons?  Change plans recently?

You mentioned no available funds showing, right?

@natahir2 : 42.70 still doesn't work. Was this charge on the same night as your last renewal? Does your overview page show the $15 plan. Do you possibly see more than 0 in your Available Funds?

Payment history says I have been charged $13, on my credit card its 42.70, bank says speak to the merchant

@natahir2 : 42.30 / 1.11 = 38.11. Public Mobile is all even dollars. So where did this number come from? Was 42.30 a typo. And are you paying for any other accounts?

This is a $15 plan less auto-debit discount of 2 dollars, I haven't changed anything except setting up auto-debit

I am in Saskatchewan, and its a basic plan 100 min. for $15 and less $2 for auto-debit setup.

@natahir2

Could you provide Transaction History, too? That might help figuring out what you have been charged.

Hello @natahir2

Can you look at your "View Payment History" and see what it says there?

A plan can't cost $42.30 because that doesn't match any tax rate in Canada for a plan amount plus tax. It sounds like they're charging you for a $40 plan. Did you change your plan recently?

@natahir2 : What province is your phone number from? That total doesn't seem to make sense. Is it possible you're paying for another account?
