Hey Community,
We have an important announcement to share with our subscribers who are currently enrolled in our old Rewards program.
We’re making changes to our rewards program and are sharing how these changes impact some of our subscribers. Starting in May, we’ll be retiring our old Rewards program and moving all subscribers to our Public Points™ program.
We launched the Public Points™ program in January 2022 to provide our subscribers with more ways to earn and spend rewards, with greater flexibility. As part of our commitment to continuously evolve our products and services, it's time to retire our old Rewards program and shift our focus on enhancing our Points program.

I would be very surprised if the CCTS took any action. Businesses can change policy at anytime even "If" they promise something - which in this case they actually didn't. If you read what they released they said at the time they were going to keep it running then literally a week later changed their minds. I have problems with executives who do business like this - Someone made a big mistake. Hence why I will be leaving. Lets face it with the tri-opoly in wireless space in canada there is no real competetion hence why we pay the highest telco costs - in the world. CCTS should be chastizing all businesses who are charging these ridiculous costs. What Telus has done has awoken the sleeping giant. Telus doesn't want a bunch of smart people using their services anyways and these events are why. They like most canadian businesses just want liberal peons. Not true thinkers. We can't even hold people accountable for 90% of the population taking a gene therapy product with unknown harms. We set humanity back a few cycles atleast. Therefore I don't expect any reversal nor CCTS intervention ( I don't think they have true enforcement power anyways)... Tbh CCTS sounds like another liberal think tank..

That is just corporate speak to "get as all in line." and "obey your overlords"
Public Mobile is going to raise prices regardless.

We gotta show telus who's really in charge here.
04-08-2024 06:47 AM
Make sure to file your complaints to CCTS to fine Public Mobile for screwing over the customer. They're going to raise the prices regardless.

But Darren Entiwistle wants mooore money though

I will go to freedom if public mobile ends the old rewards.

The $99 only includes incoming and outgoing calls and incoming texts. Outgoing texts are billed on per use basis. If you send more than an average one message (at 160 characters) per day, you are better off with the $119 plan. While more than $15 minus full legacy rewards, it's still less than $10 per month for unlimited talk and text plus 1.25GB (vs 100 outgoing minutes and 0.25GB for $15 here). Of course Freedom only makes sense for people who live in their native coverage area.

PM == Telus. This is the next part of the sick joke / slap in the face 😮

> Further to my above comment we got emails and texts in regard to this. Check your junk mail.
NOPE, no emails from PM from 2023 or early 2024. No junk mail either, and I have email server logs to prove I've not had anything from them until I did a password reset to get back into these forums (as NoseyNick1 cos eversafe didn't seem to want to restore my access to my NoseyNick forum profile)
First I learned was when I happened to log in to check my remaining data and saw the popup. I wondered if it was a mistake, considering we were promised we would NOT be moved to the new points system, but then found THIS post on the forums that seemed to confirm it was genuine. Then the apology/bonus 5GB seemed to be confirmation that I am indeed being force-moved, despite earlier promises, whilst also rubbing the "150 day expiry" salt into the wound. 😞
No texts apart from the ones I listed below - my rewards for Nov/Dec/Jan (but NOT since), auto payments confirmed for Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb/Mar, then the "5GB bonus data", which would have come as a complete surprise if I hadn't already seen the popup and found this forum post.

oh well, guess I'm switching in may. someone else is offering a sweet plan for $19. i personally can manage for 1 month on a $1 bare bones plan, especially since I'll be travelling till mid april and won't need my phone (I'll use my partners). I'll switch us both next month (she's a new customer so isn't affected by Public Mobile's change, but she's about as loyal as I am to companies who screw us over)

@HALIMACS Hmm...are you saying I shouldn't wish to win the jackpot the next time I buy a lottery ticket? 😉
@dabr Absolutely not. I hope you win! Especially all the wonderful (sarcasm) prizes you can win by gambling away your Public Points. I'm sure we can't wait for all the lottery prizes. 🙄

@unloyalpmuser If you downgrade your plan , you will lose that extra data add on bonus they gave for taken away your old $ legacy rewards unfortunately
04-07-2024 06:52 PM
funny you say that, that's all I paid for my service this month. i switched to their crappy $15 plan, should tie me over seeing as how they gave us all that extra data.... all the discounts I got from their old rewards program brought my bill down to $1. presto, $1 phone plan. they shouldn't expect any loyalty from me after this month...

@Wolfcore - Yes, how funny! 🤣
04-07-2024 05:52 PM
I, too, believe they may be looking at increasing pricing.
Almost everything is being increased as a result of recent changes nationally.
Businesses will use any excuse to raise prices: pandemics, carbon taxes, eclipses, day turning to night… 😉
04-07-2024 05:51 PM
See, although I'm annoyed by this style of promotion (because it's misleading), at least they aren't saying that you will keep paying that same price forever. That's the biggest difference between what they're doing with the legacy rewards, and the tactics companies usually use to lure customers.
The fact that they're still using the "no surprises" slogan is hilarious though; the irony lol

@Wolfcore - They made a promise again - look at this ad a couple weeks ago: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2096107617407582

THis would AFFECT everyone with PM and even more family accounts. This legacy rewards change is not great but a plan price increase would affect my family financially more.
I think that would only be the case if any such price increase was to be greater than $5-7 per cycle that all customers with legacy rewards will be losing starting next month.
edit: plus I believe there will be price increases coming for most of the newer plans with big data buckets at $40/less prices sooner or later..

and if it does I bet within days/weeks there would be a notice of price increases to plans.
Maybe to a few select plans, but not across the board. They still have to be competitive with other brands at the end of the day, and the face-value of plans are most important for onlookers (advertising). If all of a sudden all of PM's plans were to cost $5 more than all of their competitors, it would only hurt PM more, as it'll not only cause a bunch of current users to leave, but would also dissuade outsiders from joining.

@Tiffiny124 wrote:This is a similar change to Starbucks devaluation of their points program or shoppers optimum. It’s a reward program and they can make changes whenever they want. It’s part of the fine print, terms and conditions. Like every other corporation they insist it’s a better program 🤣🤣🤣 yeah NO! I’m loosing $60/year. $42 for annual loyalty $10/year vs $5/month and if I read the referral correctly it’s now capped at 4 so an additional $24/year for that totalling $66 total annually. Plus the tax on the entire savings.
@Tiffiny124 that is just how it shows. You probably have 4 referrals. I thougtht he same when I looked at mine as well. THey say you can earn upto $value = referrals that month as they aren't sure the referrals will continue

Fair enough thanks for the clarification. I wonder why I didn't get it.
