Contest Rules
Public Mobile Refer-a-Friend Promotion Contest
CONTEST RULES
No Purchase Necessary. To enter entrants must refer a friend onto the Public Mobile network during the promotion period of September 23 to September 30, 2019 at 11:59 pm ET. One entry per referral. An entry is defined as the successful activation of a newly referred customer. No other form of participation is accepted. In the event of a dispute on the entrant identity, the person who is the holder of the email address specified on the online form will be deemed to be the entrant.
Contest runs September 23 to September 30, 2019 at 11:59pm ET.
To be eligible, an entrant must be an existing Public Mobile customer and entry must be received on or before end of contest closing date and time. Entrants must be a Canadian resident who are 13 years of age or older and must be a member of the Public Mobile online Community. Contest not open to employees of TELUS Corporation, its affiliated companies or subsidiaries, its sales agents, its advertising and promotional agencies, and members with whom they are domiciled. By accepting these Contest Rules, entrants agree that any and all liability related to this contest by TELUS is limited to the value of the Prize(s) as defined hereinafter.
There will be three (3) prizes awarded. Each winner will receive the following prize:
Two (2) Cineplex General Admission Tickets (Retail Value $8.75)
Prize(s) must be accepted as awarded and with no substitutions, is/are not transferable unless set out in the Contest Rules and cannot be exchanged with Public Mobile or cash. Public Mobile reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a Prize of equivalent value if such prize becomes unavailable for any reason. The chances of winning are dependent upon the total number of eligible entries received.
A random draw for all Prizes will take place at the Public Mobile office located at 25 York Street, Toronto, Ontario on or about October 1 at 12:00PM ET by a TELUS representative. Selected entrants will be notified on the Public Mobile Community. If the selected entrant cannot be reached within two (2) business days, or if the selected entrant does not meet any of the contest requirements, another entrant will be selected from the remaining eligible entries.
In order to win, the selected entrant must correctly answer unaided a mathematical skill-testing question and will be required to sign a standard release form. If the selected entrant is under the age of majority in his/her province of residence, his/her parent or legal guardian must read and accept these Contest Rules. Failure to answer the skill-testing question correctly, comply with the Contest Rules or sign and return the release form within two (2) days of receipt will result in disqualification and another entry will be selected until the Prize is awarded. Prize will be delivered to a Canadian address of the winner’s choice within (7) business days after prize has been awarded.
By entering the contest, entrants consent to the use of their names, city of residence, photograph, voice and/or image for publicity purposes in all media used by Public Mobile, without payment or compensation. Entrants agree to TELUS’ use of the entrants’ personal information that may include contacting you regarding limited time offers, promotional offers and/or surveys. Full details are as described in Public Mobiles’ privacy policy located at publicmobile.ca/termsofservice.
Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a Prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
All entries become the property of Public Mobile. But the newly referred account always gets a $10 credit if they use a referral code to activate. And the person who’s code is used gets $1/month ongoing credit. Just the additional credit to the person doing the referral has expired as it was a limited time promotion.

To answer your question of what the person referring you gets since he didn't get the bonus $10.... he gets $1/month credit every month for as long as you remain with Public Mobile. That $1/Month to the person making the referral and a single $10 credit to the new customer is the regular referral bonus (always) at Public Mobile.

The key question is when you bought the SIM card at Walmart:
Did you activate your account at Walmart computer? If at Walmart, it is considered an in store activation and will not qualify for this promotion.
Some promotions are for in store activations. Other promotions are for at home, online activations. The wording can be somewhat confusing. This promotion is for at online activations. Instore activations use a different website from my understanding. Public mobile can tell whether an account activation was done in store or elsehere.

Not the first time this wording has caused confusion but PM has two methods to activate, At a Dealer or Do It Yourself online (at home). To me it was quite clearly spelled out but I can't blame people who don't check a bit closer who make this mistake. I question everything first and I would have wondered why PM bothered to say "Activate Online" in advertisements to describe going to a dealer to get activated.

Ok, no problem. @Dunkman and I were going by this: "I activated with Walmart 1900 eglinton avenue". If you didn't activate there, you will to open a support ticket to have the moderators look into this.

It doesn't say activate at home. It says activate online which I activated online. Also it says plans starting 25 and above will receive the 20 dollar bonus for the person who got referred

Unfortunately, for this promotion to be valid, you had to activate the $25+ plan at home, not at Walmart instore. You will just get the regular $10 friend credit (not the extra bonus $10).

I am the new customer, and I was referred by a friend. I went with a 25 dollar plan and should be given a 25 dollar credit. Whereas I am only given a ten dollar credit.

I went for the 25 dollar plan which is said that plan 25 dollar and above get that extra 10 dollar bill. I was referred by a friend so the referral code was used. I activated with Walmart 1900 eglinton avenue

It was nice to see the additional bonus back to those doing the referrals. I still miss the $25/$25 rewards for referrals but this was nice after a drought in this type of additional reward going back to March. For the most part PM plans sell themselves thus I would concentrate on new customer / referral rewards like this to further motivate existing customers to push friends and family to actually make the move.

I had the same thing happen...the $10 credit appeared about 6 hours later. The texts showed up about 8 hours after that. I just happen to notice it when I was checking my data usage trying to figure out how I used 200mb when I was sitting at home all day on WiFi. The RBCREWARDS promo was cut off right at the deadline last week. My friend recieved an error msg and had to wait out a lock out session and it wouldnt apply afterwards.

I squeaked my one and only referral in this promo through last night. I saw the $1 bump in referral rewards in self serve last night but it was 9 AM sharp this morning when I got the Congratulations text. And then just over an hour later the $10 referrer bonus showed up.

An oracle posted that he got his referrer credit at around 72 hours. I am waiting for my referer credit from yesterday activation of $25 plan.
One of my referee from yesterday got $10 credit this morning for activated a $10 plan and not qualified for the second $10.
