I'm wanting a better camera and am looking at a Google Pixel 6 Pro. I rarely use a cell phone and the basic 3G service I have is fine for me. If I buy this phone, will I be able to continue the service plan I Have? Thanks

@BKNS27- There's no 3G plan here. All plans use 4G for data and 3G for talk (and data). It's more about the phone being able to use the 4G for data and fundamentally 3G for talk (and data). So it's the phone, not the plan.

Yes the Pixel 6 Pro will connect to 3G, 4G and 5G.
Since PM only offers 3G and 4G plans. You can manually set your cellular network to 3G or set it on Automatic depending on your plan.

Yes there are several other members using that model at pm. Your "3G" service refers to your data speed on the 4G LTE network being throttled to 3mbps. The 3G network is used for voice services at pm until telus decides we are worthy of VoLTE calling which will hopefully be in the next 6 months(?)
You can also use the 3G network for data service with data speeds up to 20+mbps but in my experience averages 10 to 12mbps depending on network traffic. Depending on your current plan you may wish to schedule a plan change on next renewal to the limited time offer $40/15gb plan if you already have a plan in a similar or same price range.
Given the discounts already being offered on the Google pixel 6 and 6 pro and the upcoming Black Friday sales with due diligence on following the discounts in the next few weeks you should score a good deal on its purchase price. I specifically purchased a heavily discounted pixel 3 solely for it's camera and I am thrilled with its performance and particularly its nightsight and astrophotography capabilities. The improvements to the camera in the pixel 6 pro including the zoom should make you very happy once you make your purchase.
Edit:
Spelling (nightlight>>nightsight) dang autocorrect!
Here's an example of the nightsight capabilities.....

To answer your question in the thread title about whether a 5g phone will work with Public Mobile (not speaking specifically about the Pixel 6 Pro), 5g phones generally do work here but there's no such thing as any unviversal/blanket statement. Each phone model is designed with a specific set of capbilities when it comes to network types and frequencies. While one 5g model may work with Public Mobile, another might not.

@RMUSE Pixel 6 Pro should work fine and it won't affect your service or plan. Also there's no 5G service to be had at PM anyhow.

@RMUSE I think it should work. But you can check here: https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/check-your-phones-compatibility
