@Jiany , see the answers posted from other people here on this post & in your second post “Manually selecting a network” regarding this 🙂

@Jiany , people already answered this question for you in your 1st post “shall I pay extra for selecting network other than Telus in rural areas where signal is not good?” 🙂

You don’t need to post the same question multiple times here. Set your network setting to auto. Public is the only one that will work. It’s really all you’ll ever need 😊

You will not be charged extra by Public mobile. It just won't connect to Roger's network since you are a PM customer. Public mobile uses either Telus or Bell cell towers. Won't work with any other carrier.

@Jiany Look for public mobile . And no you won’t be charged extra for anything PM is pre paid . You can only use what you have already paid for

When I manually scan network, there many to choose, like rogers. shall I pay extra for that because I can't find Telus network on my phone in rural areas. Thanks

I see that now as an interpretation. Interesting question. No. No extra charges and it won't connect to another provider anyway.

No roaming available in Canada on Public Mobile/Telus. Before jumping ship to another carrier make sure you test the service in your area with the other service provider (a friend or other contact?) as you may get similar results. Telus overall has a very robust network, but of course there will be patches where one carrier is stronger than the next.

Hi @Jiany
you meant you want to pay extra for a 5G or 4G plan and hope to get better signall?
keep in mind the 3G or 4G plan you are paying is the speed. Whatever plan you are in now, you can access 3G , 4G and 5G network no problem. So, leave your phone as automatic and see if it choose 4G or 5G and see if it works. You can also manually select 4G and 5G network
But if that still give you poor network, then you need to consider other carrier. But remember, Bell and Telus share the same network, so your reception would be the same as Telus or Bell or their companies

There are no extra charges for anything here. But if you're trying to manually scan for networks and you only see Telus or Public (and non-Telus) then choose Public. If you only see Telus then it might not connect as you're not officially with Telus even though you are. I have an international phone that shows me connected to Telus. My other Canadian-market phone shows connected to Public.
For all providers, being on the fringe of reception is always tricky.
