Hello, I am trying to get a CPE M55 Modem onto the network. I have a 5G Public Mobile(PM) SIM and the IMEI number. PM wants me to download a google app. That works if I am connecting a phone. However, I want to manually set up the modem to get cell service to the modem. Is there anyway to manually tell PM what the IMEI number is so I can activate the SIM and service? Thanks!

Thank you, I found that out a few days ago through the hardware support as I just posted below. please see my response below. Wasn't happy with amazon or the seller for making this available in our markets.

Thanks for the Info, I your information from other sources originally, but was unable to match up some of the fields in the modem config panel. I reached out to HOSAYA tech support in parallel with the PM community and they mentioned the modem was not for North American Networks. They mentioned that Amazon.ca and the seller should not be posting this model on NA sites, for sale. The description of the modem was not specific as to what networks it would work on except that the title said it had a US plug. I figured it was generic enough that I could configure it manually. So I have since returned it and they cannot recommend a 5G product for NA networks. For now I am waiting for the refund and will pursue research into another modem that won't break the bank. So for now I see no point completing the activation of the account until I get another modem. I could get a second Cell Phone, but I need the modem to be more permanent and so it can support multiple users and I can hard-line it to my existing network. I would be interested in some recommendations from the community for a reliable 5G Cellular modem though. Thanks.

hi @Vinnygroid
the CPE-M55 is a modem designed and sold in the Chinse market, it does no t have all the LTE bands needed for PM. So, it might not work due to the missing bands

Correct. If your current SIM works in your phone but not the modem a new SIM won't help. You will need to setup the modem to match PM's APN settings.

Thanks for the speedy response...Prior to reaching out to the the community, I did try to take the sim card from my working Android 5G Public Mobile phone, and install it in the modem, however, it failed to connect to the network. I thought that maybe a working sim card would have worked. I am afraid that doing what you suggested would yield the same thing since I already have an active account with a different SIM. Any further thoughts?

if the M55 Modem take sim card, then please us a phone to activate the sim card first. Also, after activate, test the sim card on the phone. Then login My Account again. After an account setup, you need to get a text to validate your account once. That one time you have to get the sms for the code , no workaround (after that first time login after activation, you do have a choice to receive 2FA via email)
once all done, you can then put the sim card in the modem
