Why do my messages not send until I get into a WiFi building??

I can't send photos when sending a message, even when connected to WiFi...

@DH925

In your messages settings enable send SMS/MMS. Unlike iMessage that uses plan data when away from wifi MMS only needs mobile data enabled. MMS is sent thru a separate server and does not count against your plan data.

To pre-verify your account include in your private messaging only your full name, address, email, phone # and 4 digit acct pin #.

@DH925...

Try it...turn your data ON  (while away from wifi) and try sending an MMS to someone. Let us know if that helps.

I have an iPhone. I turn data to ON, turn wifi assist OFF. When I'm away from my wifi, I can send MMS and it uses a minimal amount of my data.

Don't worry about "going over your data limit"...once you reach your data limit, it just stops. You won't be billed for any overages. With your Public Mobile account, you only get what you prepay for.

Thank you all so much for the replies.  I think we've got it figured out and will try it tomorrow and see if all goes well!

I realize you have to have the data turned on if you want the photo to send.

HI @DH925   , iMessage is not regular text.  iMessage allows you to send to iPhone users anything including words, photos video in the same message.  It uses data even you are only sending words. It is common between iPhone users, but more trouble in terms of the need to have Wifi or Data enabled

iMessage uses the internet for its internal instant messaging capability between idevices. The internet can be wifi or cell data. With the SMS setting on you can send SMS texts to anybody. With the MMS setting on you can send media to anybody when on cell data only.

For sending mms  by using data make sure your data is turned on as indicated by @hairbag1 and check your apn settings.

You're likely using RCS messaging,  either iMessage or Android chat.

Make sure data is turned On  in the settings of your phone.
