even better, if you happen to be in Alberta anytime soon buy a lot of payment vouchers there with no tax and then you will pay 0% tax.

There is no PST in all three territories as well, so AB, YT, NT, NU are all PST free, but still subject to 5% GST.

But yes if you are in one of those 4, and want to keep a phone number from elsewhere, purchase a payment voucher from a gas station (ie Shell, Husky, Esso) or other stores like Shoppers, Canadian Tire, Sobeys, etc.

See more examples of places to ask about payment vouchers here: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/sk/payment-voucher

Riiiight… no PST  🙄

Payment vouchers in NWT it is then @CHRISTOPHER11  !!!

HI @HALIMACS

you celebrated too early. While there is no provincial tax, there is still a 5% GST to pay  in Alberta

if you've relocated to NWT on a permanent basis...why not change your cell number to reflect your new life in the north ?

@CHRISTOPHER11

Public mobile charges sales tax based on the phone number, not billing address.  You can change your number to a NWT phone number and you then will be taxed at NWT tax rate.

One way around this is to purchase a payment voucher in store in NWT.  You will pay the NWT sales tax.  Stores like Shoppers, certain gas stations will sell these payment vouchers.  You can load these vouchers for payment.
