Dear Public Mobile community,
My Wife and I need parental controls for our daughters phone. Our daughter is 16 and they are both at home while I am out of town. My daughter will not give up the phone at bedtime nor the laptop. She locks her door. My wife is not strong enough to wrestle it from her.
Our daughter talks on the phone too late , and keeps my wife awake.
I want to set the account to disable service every night at a chosen time, likely 9:30 PM.

OP wants to limit daughter's access to a phone and laptop. Extra data paid by her with parents money will not solve this issue.

You have your answers for the phone.
I assume you pay for her plan? I would suggest a plan with less data, unless you want it there for tracking her whereabouts. If she then controls her data.....she will be looking for Wi-Fi access.
Give her the option to pay for more data herself.....if that is suitable to you.
For wifi you can either shut down your router every night OR most routers have options to limit access to wifi by the devices MAC number. You can then set time periods of NO access. Every device has a MAC number. And some providers have an APP to control access like Telus and is much easier to control through the APP. You can also throw into the mix......having them log onto the guest network and control it and that would leave the main network still available. But kids are smart and so are their friends......the passwords can be on the router it self and you can log on without a password by using the WPS button. Or with iPhones the password can be shared just by putting them side by side. So setting new passwords on router may be required. If you do...just don’t forget if you call your provider for wifi issues one of the forest things they do is reset/reboot your router.....that will put the default passwords back in place.

- You can downgrade her PM plan to $15 so after 100 minutes she will not be able to call. THAT will not stop others to call her due to unlimited incoming calls 😞
- Router should have option to set up when it is active/inactive. Try limiting Internet to 8-22:00. Or just turn router off if it is not in her room.
Suspending her PM account every day might cause some further issue since PM is not a perfect system. Then you will be back here with question how to fix it.
- Serious talk with offspring is the only reasonable solution. In some countries 16-year old 'girls' are mature enough to take care of the whole family...

Your only option with pm phone service would be to use lost/stolen as mentioned by @BeachNBeer . Keep in mind that after renewal each month You will have to contact customer support to have any rewards applied manually by a CSA.
You can set wifi bedtime limits specifically per device.
More info on parental controls can be found here:

@KenR when you want your daughter off the phone and internet. Log in the PM account (if she don't know the password if she does change it) and suspend phone for the night. As for your Eastlink internet. Log into your router at night and change the wifi password.
Teens will be teens best of luck!

thank you. The family meetings have taken place. I'm going to Eastlink next to find out about parental controls there too.

@KenR There are no parental controls via PM. However if your daughter does not know the password to her account and you and your wife do where you log in to pay. You could simply log in and click lost / stolen. Mark the account as stolen which will suspend the account for the night.
However. Then she could just use wifi and Facebook and every other type of app. So you'd either have to disconnect your internet also. But you probably should have a family meeting and make rules with your daughter.
If that helps you....
