fake text from public mobile

BillSima

Hi there,

I received a text from public mobile saying that my credit card has expired and that I am in danger of losing service.  My credit card has NOT expired and will  not expire for more than a year.  The message is below.  There is a link to your web site but I did not click on it.

Is there a problem with Public Mobile records or my account?  Or is the message fake and to be ignored?

Please let me know what you think so that I can act accordingly.

Thanks!

Public Mobile here.

Our records show that your card has expired.

To avoid losing service upon your next renewal, please adjust your payment details by logging into your Public Mobile account at https://selfserve.publicmobile.ca

HI @BillSima   If it is from 611, I think it is a false positive

There was a batch on wrong one sent out on April 25th as well

Did you get SMS from 611? I have not heard somebody can spoof 611 number.

It's not a scam, it's definitely real unfortunately there are a lot of glitches whne it comes to sending texts out in error re: cc expiry dates, phone minutes and data available.

@BillSima   It could be a real text from PM but they got the expiry date mixed up

Similar text sent to many users by mistake couple weeks ago.

So, if you are certain is not expiring, just ignore the text
