Would like to change to the $24 4GB plan

Nailer

I signed up for the $34 40GB 5G plan about 1 month ago. Its way more data than i need as a senior. So now i see the $24 plan which would be best for me, but it says new customers only. I see some customers say to move over to Lucky mobile then move back to Public to get the $24 plan. Not good with that stuff and would be afraid to lose my number. How about Public Mobile allow me to change over, and keep me as a happy customer.

Agreed. I'm happy with the offer. The grass is always greener. I feel like it's still a good deal in comparison to what other friends and family pay

Good point. It's really a shame they're rubbing a lot of long time customers the wrong way. I'd prefer to be on the 4G for $24. From a usage point of view, i don't see myself using much more than that.

Before you make a decision to switch to another carrier and then come back to PM, consider what you might loose. PM gives points/$ for being a loyal customer, automatic subscription renewal, referring a friend, etc. These are then subtracted from your monthly bill. If you switch and then return as a new customer you will start from scratch…

I got similar response from CS. It is sad to say bye-bye to PM now. I moved to Freedom prepaid annual plan with more bandwidth and Canada-wide coverage.

Tried going the CS route to also change to the $24 - 4G - 4 MB Plan. This is the response.

Thank you for getting in touch with us and for your great patience on the matter.

This is Alexandra and I'll be more than happy to address your concerns about the plan!

I investigated and the $24 4GB plan is available for new activations only.

@Toller  If you would like more then 1GB of data . Then the 10GB for $29 is the next best plan for my GB

Toller
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

@DennyCrane - that's correct 25/1GB.

@Toller I'm assuming you're on the $25/1GB plan, which is why you got a targeted offer to increase your spend. They're not going to proactively offer you a plan that will generate them less revenue. The $24/4GB plan is being targeted at people on the $15/250MB plan.

I was presented a 10GB/4G/29$

who know maybe the 4GB/4G/$24 will be coming your way soon

Except you can "quit" your provider and come back in a month to get the better "pay". Your boss, not so much.

I just came from virgin after staying with them for less than a month for the same reason.  It's no different from getting better pay with a new job.  That's how the game is played.

Its pretty simple. Go to another company and port your number with you. Its pretty easy to port your number. If your getting a better price, stay there. If not, come back in a month. Some companies will offer you a better deal when the see your back side as you walk away.

The new offer is for new customers only, again sometimes if you have been with Public Mobile for a while you might get an option for 4GB 25$ plan but again you might have to wait until it is available which might take sometime.

@DkB58

PM is just trying to make money. Some subscribers are getting completely free subscriptions from PM because they have racked up so many referral rewards.

To PM's credit, the plans that they are offering to existing are about $5 more across the board but offer much larger blocks of data at that respective price point.

I am pay $4 more than before but I am getting a huge bump in speed and available data.

My son came up with the idea of downgrading his current $39 4G plan to a $15 or $25 3G plan and trying to switch to a new promo plan like $34 5G. If he can get it to work, I will report back here.

Just send a private message to CS_Agent. Over the last two days, I have dealt with three different agents depending on who is working at the time. When they change shifts, the new agent will take over and deal with the request ticket. They are all very pleasant to deal with.

Do you have the contact for switching? TIA.

Exactly! Apparently being a loyal customer means nothing these days to companies, especially those with little to no competition.

I was able to switch from an existing plan to a "new activation only" plan.

The key thing is that the new activation plan has to cost more than your existing plan. I was able to go from a $25 3G 1GB plan to a $29 4G 30GB plan by messaging CS_Agent.

However, if you try to switch from an existing plan to a new activation only plan that is cheaper than your old plan,  PM will not allow you to do it. My son tried and PM refused.

One thing that you can try is switch to a $15 or $25 3G plan for a month or so and then try to switch to one of the new activation plans when they are available again.  That's what my son is going to try in the future.

I am on $30 / 2GB plane over 3 years. PM is so BAD on existing client.

I saw this on Freedom today. It is time to move on. I like the plan including CANADA + USA

Just leave and go with the other carriers that are offering $29 for 30gb.  This is ridiculous how they are treating existing customers

This sort of happened to me. I signed up with PM with a new plan but better plans came out after. You will have to decide if it's worth the cost as PM doesn't offer refunds when you port to another provider but other companies will give you a refund for unused time. I'm still waiting for mine from Rogers. If it's a $10/month plan difference, that's around $120-135 a year- is it worth it to you? Might be if you know you won't use that much data. However 4G is not as fast as 5G and that's something to consider too.

It is what it is, l wished these offers were offered to new and existing costumers, a reason to “why choose public mobile” here is a reason why

I think you will be unhappy customer as you cannot get this deal at all. Unless you open brand new account, transfer your old number (from account #1) to whoever and then transfer it back to new account (account #2). You will have to pay at least a month at new provider...

@Nailer , we as current customers can’t switch to a plan that is for new activations only! 😔 Many have posted on here about this!

Yes, the only way to get the plan is to sign up with a new account, using a different email address & new SIM Card!

To keep your phone number you would need to port that phone number out to a different company then port it into your new account! Once you port your phone number out from your current account that account will close & you will lose anything left of your plan on it & no refunds for unused time!

Edit: You would just have to decide if it is worth the cost of porting your phone number out to a different company (while your current account is still active to successfully port your phone number to them) & paying for the plan there then porting your number into Public Mobile on the plan you want (just make sure that plan is still offered by then)!

@Nailer  Sorry it’s a new activation only plan

DennyCrane

It's a new customer offer only. You can try and send a direct message to @CS_Agent to plead your case, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. There's not much risk in losing your number by porting out and back in again though.
