Upgraded my moms phone to a new iPhone and now she's unable to send me texts (I also have an iPhone). Even when I try to send her a message (I'm on a different carrier) it shows as attempting to send an iMessage rather than a text. Sometimes she gets them sometimes not, but the real issues is she is unable to send me messages or reply. Any ideas???

Activate SMS after disabling Imessage. This should correct the issue.

I think I found the solution:
•turn on iMessage
•under "you can receive iMessages to and reply from" select PHONE NUMBER ONLY
•turn on "send as SMS"
I turned off wifi and tested it. Seems to work now. Thanks all!!

I tried turning off iMessage and then went to send myself a test message from her phone and a pop up came up saying unable to send without iMessage activated when I tried to hit the send button.

I think so too. Just not sure what the settings should be... 😩

Also she is able to send text messages to people who android phones only.
Turn of iMessage and enable SMS. iMessage needs internet.

There must be a setting on the phone to switch out of sending iMessage. Data needs to be enabled but the account does not need to have data.
