I would like to transfer my provider.
I am currently with Telus
And my daughter with Koodo.
I would like to transfer both over to public mobile. How would I go about doing this?

Do I need to pay this contract off before switching? Or can I switch and pay balance later?
Hi @Roxannesaxon Not sure if you have other Telus service tied with the contract, it might affect the price of the rest of the service.
Call Telus, Call Koodo, ask them straight (and maybe they will offer you better deals 🙂 )

@computergeek541 - not just will this bill you for what is owing...but they may charge a 'tab plus' fee or something else it may be called, when you are still paying a tab.
Not sure what accommodations would be done under the umbrella of the family of 3 companies.
Perhaps, best to connect with Telus and Koodo and inquire about what you would be charged if you ported to another provider. You could mention what if you port to PM and see what they say.

After you port out, Telus Mobility and Koodo Mobile will send bills for the amounts owing. You can still port out even if you have a tab balance. I have read about rare cases of carriers refusing to let port outs until devices balacnes are paid (that example was from Freedom Mobile), but that isn't the normal operating procedure.

Unfortunately you will probably have to pay the balance remaining with your current provider . Good news though…no contracts at Public Mobile.
Enjoy and welcome 😊

@Roxannesaxon That you have to check with Telus and Koodo and check the contract terms. Usually if it is a contract because of the phone , you just need to pay the rest of the cost of the phone. But again, check with them directly

- Get 2 new PM SIM cards
- Open 2 self-serving PM accounts. You would need 2 separate e-mails.
- Activate SIM, pick new numbers (for starters), pick Plans, pay for service.
- Later you can port your numbers if you want to keep old numbers.

@Roxannesaxon is that Koodo Postpaid plan?
Make sure both accounts are still active
Get 2 SIM cards first Best to get it from store as it is quicker. Don't order from PM as it will take long for them to deliver
You can start with any one of them. Let say start with you. Activate yourself first. Use a friend referral code to save $10 (or $25 if you can do it in the next couple days). Request porting during activation.
LEAVE YOUR TELUS SIM in a phone. You will get a text from Telus asking your approval to port. Reply YES within 90 mins
Once all completed, check if the service works. Make sure incoming calls go to PM SIM as it confirms the completion of your porting. At that point, your Telus account will be closed
Then Login to your Self Service My Account and make note of your very own Friend referral code. Use it to activate your 2nd line (your daughter). Just go through the same steps again as above
Then finally, enjoy the great network and the saving!!

@Roxannesaxon - edit, sorry...i read that backwards!
You can port into Public Mobile through the activation process here: https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/portal/activation
For Koodo Prepaid plans it is a little different.
Porting from Koodo:
If your switching from Koodo postpaid your can port-in your number during sim activation. Just have your Koodo account number, name on the Koodo account and Koodo number ready and enter it when choosing your number.
If it's Koodo prepaid then you can click this link and type in “port request” to be put in touch with a Customer Support Agent (CSA). Include the Koodo info above.
