Confirm her current phone number is eligible for porting.

Let her create PM, account, get SIM, activate, etc. Pick any number and confirm everything works as expected (SMS/calls/Internet).

If provider is not on a list (ant there is no 'other' as provider) let her contact agent to help her out.

When porting from within the customer's Self Serve account, the customer will not be asked who the old carrier is.  Before contacting a Public Mobile CSA, I would first suggest that the customer try to perform the porting from the Self Serve website by using the instructions provided by softech.

Others have noted that CMLink utilizes Telus network so when your friend activate the SIM. Remember to keep the CMLink in the phone and wait for a text confirming she is porting her old number over to PM. Reply to the text with YES within 90 minutes of receiving the text.

I believe in this case if CM Link is under license by telus you can choose telus when porting but after activation with a temp number thru self serve.

@xiaogegeying   I think CMLink has been using Telus network, so, you should be able to port into PM without issue

"Who is CMLink?
In this Agreement, "CMLink" refers to a trademark being used by China Mobile International (Canada) Limited (“CMI”) and TELUS Communications Inc. (“TELUS”) CMLink is a trade-mark of CMI, and is used by TELUS under license."

Ask your friend to activate with temporary PM number first.  Then she can contact customer service agent to port her number over afterwards.

Check this website to make sure that her number is going to be able to port over:

https://secure.koodomobile.com/checktransfereligibilityparrot/default.do?lang=en&appname=otherportal

(Koodo site, but Koodo and PM are part of Telus)

@xiaogegeying

 Yes, the list does not cover all wireless providers

First, come to this site (https://secure.koodomobile.com/checktransfereligibilityparrot/default.do?lang=en&appname=otherportal  )and make sure your phone is eligible to transfer into PM , this is a safe check

If all good, I suggest you to activate first with a temp. number.  Once activated and work without issue, you can re-request porting from My Account.   If any issue with the request there,  you can submit a ticket for PM to process it manually

[update 2:25pm: forgot to post the link for port eligibility, added back. LoL]
