Hi All:
I looked through previous posts but didn't quite come across the answer I was looking for. I realise there's no cell service in Europe with PM so I plan to add an eSIM or pSIM to my phone (along with possibly keeping the physical PM sim in). We have a cab pick up for a hotel transfer that needs to contact us at an airport.
My question is.. if an iMessage is sent to me in Europe to "my current PM cell number/or email" will that msg show up in Europe on my phone as an iMessage when:
1. I'm on WiFi in the airport or elsewhere.
2. If I have a European data eSIM or pSIM in? Or will my phone revert to wanting to use the phone number associated to the European eSim for iMessage? I realize iMessage operates via data but I've also read its linked/verfied to your primary mobile number and or/email.
I have heard various things:
1. if you keep your current PM pSIM in (that's Apple ID verified/linked?) and add the European eSIM as data only it will work?
2. If you remove the PM pSIM and just add a European pSIM/eSIM it won't work? (Also read if you remove the PM pSIM for a European pSIM iMessage continues to work for for 30 days to your number then stops?? hence my confusion) Apparently if you have a PM eSIM and remove that to add a European eSIM/pSIM it stops immediately?)
I realise Whats Up /Viber are also options but just trying to get my head around how iMessage will function there to contact family and friends also..
Thanks Kk

If imessage uses data then it could work as you would connect to WiFi.
PM does not offer service outside Can/USA/Mexico.

@KiwiKid My understanding is that because it goes through Apple it should still work on wifi or whatever cellular service you set up there because the phone number and email are associated with your Apple ID. I am able to iMessage with family in the UK using their phone number and my email on my iPad and it shows my phone number under Send & Receive even though the iPad has no sim. At least that's my take, hopefully if there's more to it someone will add to it, you could also ask Apple support.
