Phone goes from LTE to 3G why?

If it does this only when you get/make a voice call and have data on but wifi off it may be because your phone is not VoLTE compatible or not set up for VoLTE.

It’s almost always due to physical location within a structure or distance from the nearest cell tower.

what phone do you have? was it always like this or just recently?

And remember, most of us still need 3G for voice , hence the network will change to 3G when calls come.

Try Reset all Networks and check if you get this 3G network in other area as well

@Suzpow  Your network most likely set to automatic and it picks the network with best signal

add I’m  on 5G plan and when I go into my basement it drops  to 3G 4G/LTE
