PM email account spammed -perhaps coincidence ?

Deleted

It may just be a coincidence but an alias email account that I have setup exclusively only for my PM account is receiving an unusual amount of spam emails.

If one suspects that the email used in your EVERSAFE account may be causing you some concern then you could just delete the email associated with EverSafe. The email is not required to log in to your account in order if you wish to make changes.   You can still login to your community account and plan account with 2FA through your tele number.

@Dublicate_acct

You cannot login without an email address as username.  You cannot just delete the email address.  The Email is  stored in EverSafe profile and you need it.  Please show us how you delete the email from it and able to login

Great app - WOW to my surprise the email that I thought was the most secure has been compromised several times.

Really @Deleted , that is odd. And it was only every used for PM by you? Wonder if someone else had that same email address before you? Email addresses can be reused (once accounts are closed) just like phone numbers, you just don't hear of that very often.

I use a prepaid reloadable type card for one account here and on my phone. Not the reloadable gift cards you see in stores though (at least one that I know doesn't work). If you put in a balance (not too much) then you can change the card to a zero balance visa gift card.

Was this alias an address that also goes into the base inbox? Or was it the instant alias thing like gmail with the dot or plus?

I receive the odd email from Public Mobile.  Other service providers are far more aggressive with marketing.  The delete button works very well.  I would not recommend dissociating the account email.  The cure is worse than the ailment.  If the account ever goes into suspension, good luck trying to login and reactivating.

I'm not complaining about emails from PM - I know that I can disable them in settings. sible. Better safe then sorry - right?

@Deleted

having a valid email address is required in case one needs the 2FA sent to their email.

If you deleted the email that was once attached to your EverSafe/My Account credentials, I guess that is not an issue UNTIL you need to send the 2fa code to your email. Then, at that time I suppose you could get another one linked to it.

You still use your email to log into community and my account. You could still strive for community rewards/give back rewards if the email matches though, I would think...even though the email doesn't exist.

Interesting.

In a previous post I reported an unusual number of spam emails sent to the Alias email I created specifically for my PM account. There are two possibilities , either it’s a coincidence or the PM email has been compromised.

I strongly suspect that the root problem lies in the switch to EverSafe

I think it's possible that Oracle computergeek541 has assumed that your account is associated with mine and we are trying to play the system to possibly gain $1 ---that of course is ridiculous-- You should report this to CS

 I don't even recall any posts by this user. I  may have opened them, but nothing stood out.

@Deleted- I would be careful with those accusations. But there may be some other game going on. I went in to my moderated items list and there's a lot. Some are my solutions. One that I saw had no post from me? Why would it be in my moderated items? The thread or reply seemed to have been so-called marked as spam. So was someone maliciously unjustifiably marking my posts?

Not able to update email - reported this to CS and they are working on it - The spam email directed to me don't show my actual email address but just show random numbers @gmail.com --

Over the past free days have been receiving bogus offers invitation to gambling and porno sites etc. It now seems routine that every day I have to delete numerous spam emails. My question is - has anyone else noticed spam messages to their email that is used on their PM account?

PS. This is to a brand new Gmail account.

Not sure if it is any better now, wish he can share his expeience too

For me, everything looks good and I don't see any unusual higher number of spam.  If your current email address is used only for PM, maybe you can create another mailbox and see if it helps

I would say purely coincidence. With the amount of troll farms and spamming programs, email addresses are guessed all the time and are hammered for months on end even if they are not valid. Then the spamming program recognizes the difference between what hit a valid email box and an account that doesn't exist. Then when it finds active accounts (accounts that don't send back returned messages) it will hammer it for days or months. Then active emails are sent around to other spammers and it's just one viscous cycle.  Best you can do is report it as spam and block it.  You can set up emails so just PM message hit your inbox and the rest go to spam folder.

@Deleted Was your alias email address something that would be easily guessable, or was it something fairly random?  If it was the former, it might just have been a coincidence.

I've used my main email for PM and haven't noticed an increase in spam (beyond the stuff I usually get) in the month or so I've been here.

Likely coincidence.  I manage several accounts myself and have a couple email address exclusively made for PM accounts. Have not noticed any increase in spam emails.
