Not receiving phone calls or SMS

timing

Hey all,

For some odd reason, my phone stopped receiving phone calls and sms, but I can send and call.

I tried to look through the forum but really didn't find anything.  I haven't changed my plan or added any new add-ons for the last couple of months.

One thing I tried, that I read on the forum, was to report the phone as being lost/stolen, then after a couple of minutes, say it was found and restart the phone.  Still nothing.

Any suggestions?

It has voicemail settings, but no call forwarding anywhere.  It's a Samsung S7.

With regards to the $1 payment, I can't for the life of me find where to do that.

It must. How else would it get to voicemail? That's a form of call forwarding.

What make/model phone do you have?

How'd you make out with the $1 idea? Seriously. It has been known get things going.

Yep, I did that at the very beginning.  Still nothing.

I have heard recently of a problem similar that was corrected by powering down phone, remove sim and use a pensil eraser to "buff up" the contact on the sim. Another longshot, I know. Good luck.

Sounds like you've tried all the obvious things. How about power down the phone,  removing your sim card for a moment, then reinstalling and rebooting. It's a longshot but give it a try. Let us know how you make out. Good luck.

It is unfortunate that you do not have an extra phone lying around.  We are still uncertain whether it is a hardware issue versus PM service.

If all fails, you could try to contact moderator to see whether it is a PM service issue. Expect 1-2 day wait.

See if Call Forwarding is turned on. Go to Settings - Phone - Call Forwarding and make sure it's off...

@PM100 Everything looks fine.  Payment was made and everything is good order.

When you log into your self serve account does everything look copacetic?

1. They get voicemail.

2. WiFi and Internet work (even on data).

3. Phone is up to date.

Here's another weird trick that hasn't been mentioned yet...manually add $1 to your account and then restart the phone.

Are you familiar with doing something like a Network Reset on your phone ? (note you would lose wifi and bluetooth stored connections)

if yes then you could do as follows on an android phone...

To reset the network settings:
Open Settings app.
Tap General management.
Tap Reset.
Tap Reset network settings.
Tap RESET SETTINGS button.
Restart and check for the problem.

I would have loved if it was that simple, but it's not.

@timing  Make sure you haven't turned on the do not disturb on your phone.

@popping

Yep, your right, I've been with PM for a while, so no, I didn't port over recently.

@PM100

Did that a couple of times already.

@Dunkman

I'm trying to find an old cell, but I'm not too sure if I have around.

Also, forgot to mention, I did look at my history, and it is showing that messages were sent.

From your OP, it sounds like you have been with PM for a while.  But I am going to ask a question to eliminate another possibility of not getting incoming calls or texts..

Did you port a number from other provider last couple days?

PM100

As a simple first step try turning the phone off and then on again.

Can you try your SIM card in another phone?  To determine whether it is a hardware issue versus Public mobile service problem.
