Friend on the $15 Public Mobile plan received a text from public mobile that as of June 2023 his plan will no longer support MMS has anyone heard of this or know of this? Thank-you

Looks like your friend needs to upgrade his phone. Only customers affected by this received a text message of these upcoming changes.

I guess those who are using older models of phone will also be affected by this Telus service update as well:

@EdN Yes, it's related to PM/Telus not supporting MMS or group messaging on older phones although internet browsing will not be affected. Also it won't matter which plan the customer has, so perhaps an upgrade to a newer phone might be needed depending on how important that feature is to your friend.

I have that plan...had it for a coupla years. Haven't heard anything of the sort from PM.

So far, no such SMS from PM. Everybody is different and use mobiles differently; I would not care less if they cancel MMS. There are free voip apps to do that and there will be no more confusion 'why MMS did not go through - activate data, etc.'.

@EdN , I think it has to do with the model of phone being outdated. What phone is your friend using?
