I'm travelling abroad next week and purchased an eSIM but I can't install it. PLEASE HELP

I purchased an eSIM for travelling overseas and I can't install it.  I confirmed before buying the esim that where there were no SIM Restrictions in my iphone settings but it appears that Public Mobile does not support Dual SIMs on their service?  Is that correct or is there something else I'm supposed to to.  When I try to scan the QR code for the eSIM or try to Add Cellular Plan in the settings ... that option is not there.  Apple support says I need to contact Public Mobile to assist.  Is there anything you can do to help?!!

thank you

@Handy1 ... haha

@KWYD  Or sept just around the corner iPhone 15s  for the whole fam 🙂

Ah yes, that'll be the problem. The iPhone X does not have esim capability. Your daughter can get a physical sim once abroad. Just take the PM sim out temporarily.

@softech and @DennyCrane .... my sincere apologies ... I just figured out the problem.  My daughters phone is in fact "just" and iphone X ... and not an iphone XS like the other 3. .. Argh!!

@softech ... yes ... I could either just scan the QR code to activate or go into the settings to Add Celluar Plan.  I suspected there was an issue with my daughters phone because it wouldn't scan the QR code.  Then when I went into the Settings to add it that way there was no option to even add another plan

As I've said, PM does not restrict the year of a third party esim.

@KWYD did you use eSIM in your other devices?

Sorry ... I don't know how to tell if it is physical or esim.  All the other iphone XS devices support dual sim and esim and I had not issues installing the Orange eSIM for travelling.  Is it possible that certain PM plans don't support dual SIM?  My daughters plan is one of the lowest plans.

Ah, so she has an iPhone XS. You've stated different things in different posts. In that case the device has single esim capabilities. So you should be able to run 1 physical sim and 1 esim. Again I'll ask, is her Public Mobile line on a physical sim or an e-sim?

@DennyCane ... iphone Xs is

@DennyCrane  I agree with you iPhone X won’t support eSIM just the iPhone XS and later . OP said 4 XS devices or s was there for plural

According to this the iPhone X isn't esim capable. This may not be completely accurate though.

Is her PM sim a physical sim or an e-sim? Even some esim capable devices can only support a single esim, not dual.

I have 4 iphone Xs devices ... they all have dual SIM support ... and they all support eSIMs ... and all of them except this one (on PM) will allow me to add an Orange eSIM.  This one (for whatevery reason) does not show that I can even add another Cellular Plan.  I know ... it does not make sense ... hence why I'm here asking the question.

I was reading something about iphone the other day and saw something about dual sims/esims. Not all iphones can. So which exact model of iphone do you have?

@KWYD

see if this is helpful

https://www.airalo.com/help/using-managing-esims/how-can-i-remove-an-esim-from-my-device

Again,  do Not delete it or you will have to go back to physical sim with PM. PM will probably fix this problem  soon, but not at this moment

Go into your sim card settings and turn it off. Do you actually have an e-sim capable device? What phone model is it?

@softech ... how do you disable it without deleting it?

@KWYD your iPhone has ESIM?

Hmmm ... then something else is wrong.  This phone is for my daughter on PM ... The same Orange esim works with my iphone (different provider from PM)

The inability to install an e-sim from Orange mobile has zero to do with PM. You need to contact Orange and/or your device manufacturer.

Thanks CharlieWhisky ... already purchased from Orange ... just can't install it

@KWYD this is not something PM is blocking you.

You might want to complete the travel eSIM activation while you are in France. You can disable the PM eSIM but do not delete it (you won't get PM eSIM back if you delete it)

Handy1 ... it is a prepaid from France but I can't add an additional eSIM (so it looks like dual esim is not supported by PM?)

Correct softech ... the eSIM is with Orange in France

It sounds like you purchased a travel esim from a different provider than Public Mobile. If you're having trouble installing it, you need to contact the provider of that esim.

PM does not restrict dual esim functionality. I have that very setup on my phone and have no issues (physical PM sim and Ubigi travel esim). You can also do dual esim, however esim is dependent on your actual device.

You should investigate Airalo esim for travelling.

@KWYD  Check your welcome email from PM on computer for thenQR code and scan it with your phone and install it . As for over seas PM only works in Canada and the US with US roaming . So anywheres else in the world . Your best to get a local pre paid sim in your destination

@KWYD

you said you purchased the " eSIM for travelling", is that eSIM you cannot install a PM eSIM or eSIM with another provider?

AFAIK, there is no restrictions with dual eSIM support with PM.
