How can I post my question? I have problem transferring my CIM.

I recently transferred from chatr to public mobile. Now I can call others with my public mobile but I cannot send or receive text messages.  Does someone know how to solve it?

I tried cleaning my messenger cache and data, turning my mobile on and off, removing the Simcard, everything you might think of.

If Android, try adjusting Chat messages options.

 

  1. tap Messaging app, 
  2. tap 3 little dots top right, 
  3. select Settings, 
  4. under Chat settings, scroll to "Select default messaging type", 
  5. toggle it to Automatic or Text/multimedia msg

 

For Apple, adjust the iMessage settings:

 

  1. tap the Settings app,
  2. tap Messages,
  3. turn  iMessage off by toggling the switch to grey from green.

@Mmb23 @  when you made your port request what account info did you provide? Account number, pin, or imei

 

 

Account number is the best one to use, but with chatr you need to call them and ask them to give it to you. I would do that then contact mods to restart the port process.

When you ported over from Chatr, did you leave the Chatr SIM in the phone and wait for a text from Chatr confirming with a YES that you are porting over to PM as per @darlicious.

If not, you will need to contact a moderator to complete your porting by clicking on the SIMon chat button and ask to contact a moderator or human. Or you can click on the envelope icon and message a moderator.

I think you answered your first question "How can I post my question? " - you just did - problem solved. 🙂

 

If you just ported your phone number from another cell provider it could take a few hours to complete the port. Using the other cell provider's SIM you should be still receiving calls on it, until the port completes.

Make sure you do not cancel your previous provider's services until the port is complete.

Incoming calls are usually the last to port over.

 

This is only a texting issue? calling in and out, and data is working - that's good.

 

*Ensure you have the latest software installed on your phone.

 

If you are Android - Turn off Chat Features that are enabled 

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Tap More options > Settings > Chat features.
  3. Turn Enable chat features off.

 

If you are Apple, ensure:

  1. iMessage is enabled
  2. SMS is enabled
  3. MMS is enabled (data needs to be toggled on to receive or send for these types)

Your iMessage settings might be set to receive and start messages from your Apple ID instead of your phone number.

To check if your phone number is set to send and receive messages, go to

Settings > Messages, and tap Send & Receive.

 

If you don't see your phone number, you can link your iPhone number to your Apple ID so you can send and receive iMessages from your phone number.

You will have to contact the moderators or call the telus porting department to reintiate your port request. Put your chatr sim back in your phone and reply YES to the text within 90 minutes of recieving it. You can then put the pm sim back in your phone and the port will complete in a few minutes to a max 2 hours. I will private message you the phone number.

Are you able to receive calls?  What about data?  

 

It might be a stuck port.  With a stuck port, you should be able to call and text out.  But, unable to receive texts or calls.  What happens when you put in your Chatr SIM card back to your phone?

 

Did you respond to a port confirmation text from Chatr when you first ported?
