You probably have apps which use data in the background. As soon as you walk out of your house and away from your wifi, those apps will then use your mobile data.

disable data to apps you don't use often and also disable Wifi Assist.

@Rosebud_63 Depending on your phone settings, if the signal is not good at any time the phone my switch to using data. If you're on wifi most of the time just toggle cellular data to off. You can also toggle data use off by app but the easiest way is to just use the quick toggle (usually by pulling down the screen from the top) and only enabling data when you don't have wifi available. Bear in mind that certain messaging needs cellular data, such as picture/group messaging using MMS but it shouldn't count towards your PM data count.
