I have a Canada US Mexico subscription. I am in Mexico. Why do my incoming calls go directly to voicemail?

Sorry . I read the OP’s issue as not being able to receive calls in MX (not the from MX to CA) and having them go straight to VM. I was in Cancún 2 weeks ago and had my family call me. The only ones that came through were the ones that dialed 1 before the number. That’s why I suggested it as a possible solution. Hoping @BradO can test and confirm that it works from then as well.

That's not tricking the system into thinking that it's a long distance. It really is a long distance call. Calling from anywhere in Mexico to Canadain phone number is long distance, although it's included in the Canada-US-Mexico plans. Although all Public Mobile plans have at least provincial calling, this is a throwback to how local calling areas are established based on the location being called from, and not based on the assigned city of the phone number making the call.

I can make outbound calls. This is just a new problem. My wife has the same problem, so we are able to test from Mexico.

Please share updates as I'm very curious.

I do not think you can turn voice mail at PM.
Your trick might work with VolTe compatible phones but otherwise only way to avoid getting voice mails is to do a trick with extended absence. Since I set up extended absence I did not get not one annoying voice mail (marketers, foreign language promos, and other garbage).

I was gonna suggest turning OFF voicemail but here's a better suggestion from @softech from a coupla years ago....
o "disable" voicemail, on your dial pad dial: *004*8080000000#
This will cause all calls to either ring forever or get fast busy at the point they normally would have been diverted to the voicemail system.
To reset it back to defaults, dial ##004#

How is the cellular signal in your particular location? If you have poor reception, the call will go to voicemail. Are you having any problems calling out? Try changing your location. Good luck.

I tried toggling airplane mode. Ringer works, texting OK, calling out OK.
Appreciate your help.

Try toggle airplane mode on and off. Also check that your ringer is on. Can you send texts out? Or can you call out?
