Can I activate the plan later?

Hello.

My contract with Fido ends on December 27. But I am interested in the current $36 plan from PublicMobile, which seems a good deal. I wonder if I can place the order now, but wait for my contract with Fido, to activate the plan with PublicMobile?

I know that if I order a physical SIM card, it takes few days to arrive, but definitely not a month. So I don't know how long PublicMobile can allow me to active my plan?

I am travelling to the US next mid-next month and won't be back until late December. So if I can activate my line late this month, it would also help me save some money from roaming with Fido. But that means I need to get a temporary phone number from PublicMobile right? Can I port in my Fido account later?

Thank you!

Yes. You can also probably call forward your Fido phone# to your new temporary Public Mobile phone # to recieve those calls (but you may need to leave the Fido sim card at home to avoid xx charged and check if call forwarding is included in your Fido plan?) hi @ChenPan yes, you can "delay" the activation but take advantage of today price

use the web to start acting, pick sim card to deliver to your home.  It will go up to payment step and it will charge you first.  Activation will pause there then as they need to send you the card

you can wait a month or two to complete the activation using the PM app

but since you don't need to fully activate today, why not wait and see what good Black Friday deals PM has.  If you activate now, you.cant change to those good Black Friday deals after

@ChenPan

during the actual activation process, you'll be gien the opportunity to port your fido number to your new PM account. When you do that successfully, make sure data roaming is enabled and just leave it enabled...(with PM, there's never any roaming or other fees later on) For best talk-abilty whilst in US, you need a newer cell that's got volte enabled but is also on the PM whitelist of cellphones. Here's a link that will include that list of whitelisted phones...

@ChenPan  Yes you can do that and simcard can take up to 3weeks to receive anyways and you  need the PM app to activate the sim /plan so just do it when you ready even if it’s 2 monthes from now and the plan will only begin once you activate the sim

adding and yes you can always transfer number over from Fido or any other carrier after activation at any time @ChenPan
