2GB bonus if I want to keep my old number

I already have a different 25 dollar plan with public mobile, but I want to get the new plan with 2GB bonus which means I would have to cancel my old plan. Could this mean if I get a new sim with public mobile I could use my old phone number?

@ascwin01

no you can't do that, the system not allowed you to do that, be careful...

you can port to another company but i'm not sure about the have a time for you can come back like another company is allowed you to do that for 90 days but PM i'm not sure for it.

but anyway why you like to do that ? to getting the 2GB free or you can change plan with big Data if you like...

or if you are a existing customer long time you can contact Customer Support Agent by  the will give you when change plan offer for 6 or 12 months 1GB for one time Free.

No... a SIM card is only allowed to be activated and used once.  Once you port your number out, your account automatically gets closed/cancelled (and SIM card deactivated).  Since it was already activated and used, it's now essentially "junk" and thus why we're all saying you need a new SIM card to port your number back in.

It's very tedious to do, and thus not really recommended, but it's definitely doable.  A lot of info has covered the process already, and you've already done some of the needed steps, but here's a summary for you:

  1. Buy a new SIM card and activate it (with a temporary "new" Public Mobile phone number) according to the Terms & Conditions of the promo (eg. use the promo code!)
  2. Open a "new" account with another phone provider (eg. voip.ms, textnow, Chatr/Virgin/Bell/Rogers/whatever)
  3. Port your number to that "new" provider and wait for that to complete
  4. Port your number back to Public Mobile (doable within My Account/Self Service)

Other posts have already warned you about timing and forfeiting loyalty rewards/etc, and if that's okay, then you're good to go.  🙂

@ascwin01

No I'm afraid not. You can call forward your old pm number to your new one til you decide what to do. You can get a lucky SIM card from CCS for $1. Maybe you will luck out and get some deal from lucky or get a $1 sim card for virgin from CCS and a post paid plan that will be prorated when porting out. If you can get the activation fee waved you may be able to do it cheaper since a back to school sale might work to your advantage. Just don't tell virgin your intention.

not directly.. you have to port out the account o another provider.. then port it back in with a new PM account

with that .. you loss your $1/Friend referrals and your loyalty bonus

someone tried this "space trip" back and forth completed the whole process within 24 hours..  except porting back in might need PM CS_Agent involved, as the number wasn't updated quick enough in the system (he requested porting back but the system never aware that he ever left.. too quick this space journey)

 @ascwin01 : Buy a SIM from elsewhere. Activate and port your number over to it. This closes your original account with no pro-rating or refunds and you lose any Available Funds and accumulated loyalty time and referrals.

Then port the number back into your new account.

Edit: No. All you can do is change the sim on an existing account which keeps the number. You made a whole new account to pick up the promo. This you can't move numbers around for.

 @ascwin01 : If you mean a number already here attached to an account then your only option is to port out from that account and port back in to your new account.

@ascwin01

the 2GB bonus for only new customer by Activate online only

with plan $35 and up.....not for existing customer..

@ascwin01

The only way to keep your number is to port it out and back in again on the new SIM card. Cost is about $19( $15 plan and lucky SIM card from the dollar tree) + pm sim card.($5 to $10)=$24 to $29 + loss of any accumulated rewards.

You would have to open a new account.  Numbers cannot be transferred from one Public Mobile account to another.  You would also need a new SIM card.
