As you know, our Community  is the place to get all the Public Mobile help and support you need! The Community is also the place where you can get assistance from our awesome Community Moderators when needed.

very helpful for new custoemr to know about community moderator

Who are the Community moderators?

When are the community moderators available?

  • Community Moderators are available from Mon-Thursday 9am(EST) to 9pm(EST) and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9am(EST) to 5:30pm(EST)

When should I contact a Community Moderator?

  • When you posted a question about our products and services  and haven’t received a response (On average you should have a response within 30-60min)
  • When one of our Oracles or Community members decides that your question/issue needs moderator assistance

Which Moderator should I contact?

Regardless of who you tag, your question goes into a pool of questions that is distributed to all of our Moderators. This takes all the guesswork out of the process and means that as long as you are tagging or private messaging at least one of the Moderators, you will get a response. For example, if I were to tag @Mary_M during a time where she is not working, but @Saray_O and @Shazia_K are, then I will receive a response from either @Saray_O or @Shazia_K. This also means that tagging all three Moderators is not necessary.

How should I contact the Community Moderators?

There are two ways that you are able to contact our Community Moderators:

  1. Tagging: Simply tag one of the above Community mods by inserting their name in your topic or reply post. For example, if I wanted to tag Shazia, I would use @Shazia_K to contact her Please do not tag Moderators multiple times for one thread- it will not make them respond any faster. While it may take them 20-30 minutes to get back to you, they will be sure to do so.
  2. Private Messaging: You can do this by searching for the Community Moderator’s name or by clicking on the Community Moderator’s name or Avatar, then, on the right-side of their profile click on “Send this user a private message”

How can I view my private messages between myself and a Community Moderator?

If I do need Moderator assistance, what information should I provide?

  • Once the Community Moderator has responded to a private message, they will provide you with a secure link so they can authenticate your account information
  • Your account number and #PIN will be asked for, so we can validate your account information

How quickly should I expect a Community Moderator to respond to me?

  • During our business hours, our Community Moderators strive to respond to you within 20-30 minutes of you tagging or private messaging them

What other ways can I get assistance if the Community Moderators are not available?

  • Try posting your question on the Community forums
  • Contact our support team via email:

Hello Public Mobile Community!

I am now offering bad (or good; I dunno you be the judge) of name pickup lines if you reply with a name I'll try my best to make a pickup line from that name!

To start off the thread:

I'm really bad at pickup lines, but for you I'll make an exception, Jessie cause I can.

Recently seen how in US there is a carrier called Mint Mobile. They do similar to the 90 day plans PM had. Cheaper cost buying service in bulk. They take it's a step further.

They offer 3, 6 and 12 months. It's at 12 months where you really save. $180 per year gets you 3GB per month. $240 gets you 8GB per month. $300 per year gets  you 12GB per month. The ones who pay the lowest per year pay what many Canadians pay in 1 or 2 months of service.

If PM adopted this model we could see the PM market grow and become the leader in prepaid in Canada.

I really like Public mobile, the price is good and it works like a charm.

The only aspect I'm missing is the fact I cannot use Public mobile in other countries. It's just not handy. I undertand the US has a different system and Canadian phones don't work there, but it should be possible to use the phone in Europe for example. Is there any chance Public mobile is working on this?

Hi all,

I wanted everyone to know that last week I put a PM SIM card into my friend's (@K9-LUVR) Umidigi phone. He was formally registered with Virgin.

I'm pleased to say it only took 2 hours to transfer @K9-LUVR's  phone number. My friend decided to take the $25 plan and received the special offer of an additional 500 MG to the offered 500 which was $40 less than he was previously paying.

I'm also pleased to say @K9-LUVR  is very happy with service.

I report this situation as I now have greater confidence in PM as this situation with my friend is in total opposition to my situation in which it took 15 days to transfer my phone number from Koodo to PM... both subsidiaries of the Mother Corp...Telus 🤔 (previously submitted).

With this positive experience, I will continue to recommend PM to more friends. BRAVOS to the MOD_TEAM 😉.

It was an added benefit to find out that my account received a reduction in my next month's service fee.

Thanks for reading this post. @catcanyon

I am so happy to have finally found Public Mobile. It is about time Canada is offered a service that is priced fairly for those who have their own equipment and wish not to be stuck into a high priced contract.

I myself have been with a couple different wireless carriers in the past and all still over priced while offering low data addons. It was a huge surprise when I came to find PM on a facebook post. Instantly I thought it was a scam because the plan I was interested in was a third the price I was paying for with Rogers. After checking into what people were saying about PM I ended my contract with Rogers and ported over my number. I calculated it would cost me less to pay Rogers what was left on my contract than it was to finish the contract, by nearly 500 bucks!

So far I am more than impressed with PM and have recruited one friend so far and plan to tell everyone I know how best to save their cash and still have A1 service nationwide.

So happy to have made the switch!

Hey I live in Halifax. Is there anyone who is interested in playing soccer for the Winter?

I don't have any work to do and I am free all day and don't have any soccer playing friends.

So, is there anyone interested?

We are paying a lot more per GB of data compared to the US.  I know that Canada has more land mass and much smaller population.  It's not like there's a cryc tower in every corner of the country.

Officially about a week since I signed up and wanted to share my experience -

Great mobile/tech support tech at this London Drugs store - helpful and knowledgeable, made the transition and process smooth as butter!

Only criticism would be that they are still selling the old vouchers - so I could only purchase a $43 dollar credit Vs. $40. Not a big deal since the extra $3 bucks will sit in my account for next payment, but would be great if PM would ensure that their 3rd party retail stores are up to date.

Hi all,

My phone is an Android so I use the Data Witness app graciously provided by our very own @IWIK.

My wife and daughter have iPhones. I've been reading up on apps to track 90 day plans, and I have determined that My Data Manager will do the job. Tried it on my Android and it seems good. Do any of you use something on your iPhones that you consider to be better than My Data Manager? Any issues like too many ads, innacuracies, etc.?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Interesting read from MobileSyrup,

https://mobilesyrup.com/2018/03/06/public-mobile-offers-customers-40-6gb-koodo-promo-plan/

My favourite part:

"In the most recent Telus earnings' call, CEO Darren Entwistle noted that moving customers 'up the value chain' from Public through Koodo and Telus is a key strategy for the company."

We're in good hands everybody! In the end of the day, pick your poison.

Here is a summary of how the Province-Wide Unlimited Calling Plan works:

  1. Outbound calls to a tel # with an area code within the same province you are physically located are always free, regardless of the choice of unlimited calling plan.
  2. Outbound calls to a tel # with an area code outside the province you are physically located are long distance.
  3. Inbound calls to your tel # while you are outside your home province are long distance (see notes 1 and 2).
  4. All inbound calls to your tel # while you are inside your home province are always free (see note 1).
  5. of course, outbound calls to the U.S. from anywhere in Canada are long distance.
  6. If you need inbound or outbound calls while in the U.S., you must get a U.S. Talk-based add-on for calls to complete.

For any calls considered long distance, you either need an Unlimited plan or a long distance add-on, otherwise the call will not complete and inbound calls will go straight to voicemail (see note 2).

If you do not want to use a L.D. add-on, you can try to use an app using your data to make either outgoing or incoming calls, either app to app, or some can handle app to land or cell phone line directly, usually for a small fee.

NOTES:

  1. Home province is based on the area code of your tel #, not your registered address on the account, which may be different.
  2. In scenario 3. above, officially you need a L.D. plan/add-on but some users have reported being able to receive inbound calls without one. YMMV but you can try your luck and if it does not work simply add the feature you need.
  3. Data and text are Canada wide, regardless of plan you have.

HTH

Hello,

My payment plan renewed yesterday 17th and today 18th I sitll have no service on it despite my credit card being billed. Also I had joined public mobile during the $38 dollar for the 4gb special , but I was charged 127 instead of 114. I'm wondering if this is because my credit card was at one point stolen and I had to replace it, which interrupted the AutoPay process?

Thanks

Canadian Tire Gift Cards can be used to buy Public Mobile credit at the Canadian Tire Gas Bars. Tax will be added by Canadian Tire. (Same as depositing through credit card). Plus a $1 service charge. Sale ends tomorrow.

For $120 plan on autopay - the end cost would be (not addressing tax) approx $34.53 a month. Yay!

I just read about how KnowRoaming is offering free whatsapp calls and texts roaming when out of your home country. I just bought two of the sim cards, though you can apparently get a sticker that goes over your sim card. Saw it on RFD and in an Engadget article.

Anyway the premise is this, you get free data roaming (for whatsapp calls and texts only) for no cost aside from the initial sim card purchase. If you want any other data or calls or whatever you can pay for per use or daily unlimited usage for data. I travel to Brazil a lot and I don't actually think I'll ever need any data other than for whatsapp so I can stay connected with people. (Virtually everyone in Brazil uses whatsapp)

Has anyone tried knowroaming before? Any alternatives out there that you know of? The only other ones I know of you have to pay some yearly fee to get the unlimited whatsapp usage usually $10-20 per month.

Only catch as far as I can tell is that your phone has to be unlocked, but honestly if you're on PM, you phone probably is unlocked...

Just seems like a good solution to the lack of global roaming Public Mobile has. Just stick the sticker on your sim card and when you leave Canada you can at least get ahold of people when out and about.

So glad I'm with Public Mobile. If one carrier bumps their rates, more will follow.
