The way you are treated for being a loyal customer is unfair. My wife and myself have been customers for over 7 years, we were content on the 25$ 1gb plan . The new offers for new activation only make little sense in the retention and competitive market. We would of liked to increase the safety net of data, we rarely exceed 500mb but a little extra to fall back on never hurts.

Hi Jon. You plan will change on the next subscription date. Nothing will change in regards to how you are rewarded. You do lose access to whatever Christmas bonus  data you had from previous years because it is 3G and your new plan will be 5G. Hope that answers your questions.

Changing plans on next renewal does NOTHING to legacy rewards @JONMILLS

Just don't EVER contemplate switching to Public Points unless you want to earn less, especially for Loyalty aspect of the legacy rewards plans.

They are FAR superior on the legacy rewards where one can earn $60/year vs a max of $10 per year on Public Points.

@JONMILLS  no you will keep your old rewards , changing plans won’t effect your old rewards  their tied to your account not your plan . Just be sure to Canaan for next renewal and not immediately or you lose money on your current cycle I can confirm I just switched to this plan and kept my old rewards

Understood. I haven't changed to the points. I wonder if i will lose my legacy discounts in January as the plan i am on currently is $30 for 2 gigs ( 4 gig addons for free), 3 gig speed. I changed this to the boxing deal of $40, 60 gig, 5 gig speed, it takes affect mid January. I really wanted the $34, 50 gig, 5g option but that was only available to newcomers and i needed to keep my number so i just opted for the boxing deal that way i keep my number. But i wonder if that phases you out of the loyalty deals

Oh, you're asking about Community rewards are you @JONMILLS ?

If so, you won't see any of those for November participation as you only began here a week ago according to your community profile.

And if you want to earn something for December, you really gotta get on posting and replying and braving in the next 36 hours for a chance to earn a point.

@JONMILLS  Yes if you see $2 for subscription on your bill and $5 for loyalty you are infact on the old rewards system . Just don’t ever switch the the points system . In won’t even go the the rewards section of the account don’t want to hit anything by accident and switch to the new points system . And yes you will be rewarded for community weather on old rewards or point system

I guess i must be in legacy as right now i save about $7 a month

I must not be under points as it says "Your existing bill credits will be lost" if you opt in for points.

I wonder if i don't opt in if they will still reward my contribution on the forum?

@JONMILLS

log onto self-serve and go under the rewards tab to enter the public points site

Is there a way to check points you have accumulated and what top % you are in inside our account so you can determine how much money they will give you off the next month?

@JONMILLS yes like a full time. Job but it’s secret formula only PM knows but I can share that

By participating , reading and helping others with questions . And learning and sharing and good things will happen

First that is great to know

Second, how the heck do you get $15 off for community? Do you have to post like every day multiple times to get $15?

@JONMILLS  Yes you do if your change for next renewal and to a plan that’s for existing customers

YOu dont get to take the loyalty dollars with you if you change plans

Also asked and said I want it escalating to management

JONMILLS

Yes annoys me too.

Im paying $30 for 2 gig (plus bonus 4gig) with 3 g speed ( however with loyalities and such i pay only $25 a month)

They are currently offering newcomers 30 gigs for $29 and 4 g speed

There should be a law where if they offer lower than your existing you should get that.

I would move but its such a pain in the ass porting out but i have contacted support to ask if they can offer anything to keep me otherwise i may jump ship

My question is if you sign up with a new account with PUB under a new email can you use your current number?

Now having said that i do see in my account when logged in and change subscriber button that i can jump up to $40 to get 60 gig and 5 gig speeds ( boxing deal) , however, i then lose all my loyalty stuff and would be paying $15 more a month and I would never use 60 gig a month only around 5 gig

I would prefer the $29 and 4 gig speed

Public mobile obviously doesn't understand retaining loyal customers who advertised for  them actually earned their reward and not freebies or goodwill. The way they treat current customers certainly is inappropriate. And because of the prepaid structure, customers lose out when moving to better plans. Other carriers give bonus data to their customers and their retention works hard to win customers back. Unlike PM who seems to want customers to be bitter and leave. No rewards and no actual service rep or retention or goodwill offers, I can see a decline happening.

I wish @Fdrcamb ! Granted, things always changes when the company gets big! At one time, it used to be called BC TEL.

Sounds like you work for Telus corporation.

HI @ulearn

good point, I don't mind that if it knocks off another $5 off my bill  🙂

@Fdrcamb, many of us here I think, have been members with Public Mobile for awhile now. I have been with PM for over 8 or 9 years. I can't remember anymore. I think, many of us remember how great it was with the 'freebies' and well, we got accustomed to that. But like everything, it's a business. And the company likely realized, they were losing money because of that. And every business model normally change anyways. Pretty soon, we may get ads on our phones when sending a text...it's all about their bottom lines!

I notice most of the replies here by some are just repeated answers; lm on the same page as you, 4 years in, 4 lines, Forget new costumers appreciate your bread and butter.

@IanP I know exactly how you feel. I remembered when they brought in the new Rewards program, and we were like 'wow'...but, like someone @Chalupa_Batman mentioned, Public Mobile could have done the switched and made us all part of the new loyalty program.

It's always the case with all carriers, it's all about getting new customers to their plans. It's never been the 'retention' until you leave! I left Telus for Fido because Telus didn't want to offer me anything. I left, and soon as I joined Fido, guess what, they offered what I originally asked for...too late, I already left. If I left Fido, I would have to pay a penalty fee!

Overall, since I joined from Fido to Public Mobile, am quite please with it so far. I used it get bent out of shape when Public Mobile had it maintenance issues on the network, hence why my wife is still with Fido.

But, I agree why companies don't have better retention plans or promotions...it is what it is I guess!

All makes very good sense @Chalupa_Batman

I think most would agree, however, they have been quite lackadaisical in the last couple of weeks, especially with the rewarding of the Community awards.

Their own literature states clearly that community awards are applied the first week of the following month.

It would’ve been a lot easier for them to just post an announcement a few weeks ago to just say there is no “more the merrier” and community awards are delayed (or worse?)

Information is key.   Speculation is harmful.

Allow me to play Devil's Advocate here @IanP

Being loyal to the brand is one thing, however, if you think it's unfair, there are a lot more players in the game that will offer the same. You say it's unfair, well, Public Mobile could have killed the Legacy Rewards altogether and forced everyone to go the way of the points system. They didn't.

Public Mobile killed the More the Merrier promo. They didn't have to do it for the last several years, but they did to help their loyal customers. Due to everything moving in the 5G unlimited direction, it didn't seem like a workable project anymore.

Now this is just my opinion. These new offers of $24 4GB of data are nice, yes. I don't think Public Mobile is saying you can't go on this plan. They aren't stopping you from doing so. They are just saying you can't bring your old Legacy Rewards with you. So there are options, it's just up to you which one you think is more important to you.

@IanP

if you’re on the old reward program which gives you dollars as rewards (not Public Points), it is worth sticking around.

But only because of that… not much else around here is geared toward retention
