Being overly polite is not my cup of tea - almost feels like some customer service types (not all, just some) who bull$hit their way toward getting customers 'off the line' as opposed to really offering something which may help.
I prefer to be direct, concise, and blunt, offering the straight goods without sugar-coating it.
I prefer that approach when others deal with me, too.
