Personally, PM(Tel Us) is essentially squandering opportunities, and this 3G nonsense is what's keeping Public Mobile from achieving its Destiny

Hi. I just wanted to let you Know this, as it's a Beware:
IF your Current plan 4G was at a Fairly competitive price, and U switch to that 3G Version, The rate fee U were initially paying for 4G will be Lost, Forfeit, and You'll be forced into paying that Expensive rate for Exact same plan

The 3G Plan is in my opinion, a Gimmick, very much Useless, Waste of $$$, and ultimately Unsatisfactory.
The 3G speeds that PM is stating, 2.5GB, Far Cry from 21MB
Just saying U might end up with Buyers Remorse

thank you for the help and I was only on a 30 day plan almost done the 30 days and yes I have internet at home but Its not the best so it buffers for like an hour so then I use my data! looking for new internet but for now I'm.stuck with it. I just transferd from wind so the 3g data is the same as winds right? thanks again

If you just transferred from Freedom, why are you on a 30 day plan?  The recently ended promo is a 90 day plan that provides 12 gigs of data for $120.  Perhaps you should discuss with the moderator team and have them put you on the Freedom promo.  Just mention that you messed up and ended up selecting the wrong option.

As for Freedom 3G vs Public Mobile 3G, they are different.  With Freedom you are subject to the vagaries of the network coverage and congestion.  So, data speeds can vary.  With Public Mobile, they purposely throttle 3G is a virtually unusable 2.5 mbits/s.  As suggested, inquire about whether they will extend some goodwill and move you on the expired promo.

Also what is your current plan and pricepoint?  there might be some options we might be able suggest.

so if you want data now you can

  • either buy a data addon for 1gb for 30$
  • do a plan change that occurs immideatly.  anything remaining on your current plan is lost ie if you paid 100$ for 90day plan and yo are on day 30 and you change your plan today  you will not get refunded the remaining 60 days they are gone.

3g is upto 2.5 mbs where as lte is usually greater than 30.  so it is significatly slower but still usable if you wnatch HD movies you will buffer.  look at jeremys announcement re 3g to see the differences

@Kitkat86, first things first, I hope you do realize that new price plans have just come out recently.  So, if you choose a current in market plan, you might find yourself paying a whole lot less for more money.  Be careful.  With the public announcement out of the way, there are two way to do a plan change, 1. make change effective immediately, 2. make change effective upon renewal.  It seems like you are interested in option 1 because you ran out of data.  In either case, you go into the self server portal, select what you want and select one of the two aforementioned options.  Again, big warning, the in market plans SUCK.

@Kitkat86, so you will need to log in to your self serve account.  Then hit the plan and addon tab.  It will show your current plan and beside tht there will be a button that says change plan.  Click on it and select the new plan that you want.  After this I am not sure if it asks you if you want to future date this chaneg or to take effect immediately (I have not does this).

@Kitkat86, you can do a future dated plan change that will take effect on your next renewal.  Remember the 18gb is at a throttled 3G speed

Don't you have internet at home? Wifi? You can log into your selfserve account and change it in your plans tab on a computer or something. It doesn't necessarily need to be from a mobile phone linked to Public Mobile
