unable to listen to the "fair child iplus" radio on the phone

jerry11

Starting on Dec. 24, 2021, I'm unable to listen to the "fair child iplus" radio on the phone -- no sound, but I can listen to other radios on the phone, I don't think it's my phone's issue because I can listen to other radios on the phone. Please help.

Sure. Or a 2022 Mustang Mach-E with an actual over-the-air am/fm receiver to tune in actual radio stations being broadcasted over the air to be passively received in your area. Streaming ain't radio.

I would prefer people not use the term "radio" when they're streaming over the internet. The term "radio" has history of using a radio receiver made specifically for receiving a range of frequencies with each one being licensed to a broadcaster and limited in range and passively received one at a time.

Streaming over the internet is using a radio transceiver receiving one frequency (or whatever it needs for duplexing in and out) and communicating back and forth keeping its connection with a flurry of packets.

Even a real, terrestrial, actual radio station can stream over the internet. It's no longer radio then. It's just internet content.

HI @Yummy  , it actually not too much, it roughly 1Mb/min (60Mb/hour)

I guess, if you are home, there is no point to use it on the phone and not use a radio instead But if you are on the road, using it with Data is the idea. In OP case, she can't , she can only use it with Wifi.

@jerry11 , again, what is the phone you had issue with?  and what OS version was that?

I am just curious... If you are using phone to listen radio or stream music, how long battery lasts? Is it really worth it to use phone for such task?

While waiting for the "apps@fairchildradio.com" response, I use a phone without SIM card to connect with WIFI to listen to the radio, it works. Thanks for your suggestion.

Now I have to change the phone to listen to it.

Before I tried multiple times to reinstall the app, it didn't work, either, and not understanding why other radio apps work on this phone?

@jerry11 If one Samsung works and the other doesn't. Than maybe you have system updates for the one that doesn't that you need to install. Could possibly also be the phone is old and the app provider updated their app and your phone is no longer compatible with said app.

Does your Google Chrome work on your phone. ? Just click below link and it will bring you to a webpage to listen to that radio station.

Ya, Fairchild Iplus radio app. This phone doesn't work even though I reinstall the app, another also Samsung phone works, no need update. Already sent the email to apps@fairchildradio.com, waiting for the response. Thanks.

@jerry11

Just open a Google chrome browser on your phone. Go to this link.

https://www.radio-canada-online.com/fairchild-radio-889-fm

Click play.

Minimize the browser (it will still play) while you go back to doing whatever else you do on your phone. While you wait for the APP PROVIDER to investigate the issue and get back to you.

It's your phone or the app that is the issue. Not related to Public Mobile services.

HI @jerry11 ,  with Wifi not work, too, it is a device issue with the app.

It could be your phone is on older OS?  just try to uninstall , reboot and reinstall again.  And at this point, probably the app developer is the only one able to help

No, not working on WIFI, either. but other phone works.

HI @jerry11 , yes, unfortunately that is the case.  But it looks like an app issue with your device.

So, it works on Wifi , does it? Or not even wifi?

Have to wait when they work.

HI @jerry11   is it the one called Fairchild Radio app?  I can listen to 1430 without problem.    Did you try to contact the app owner? apps@fairchildradio.com  ?

HI @jerry11  , can you send me the name of the app you use?  I want to try it too

@jerry11

What kind of Samsung phone? Did you recently have an update? What is the other phone you are using? Samsung disabled their radio app in an update a while ago (June or July) in North American phones anyways. It still works in my A3 from the UAE and works on my moto g7+ but this may be the issue.

@jerry11  You need to contact the customer support for whatever app you have. They would be the one to help you not these PublicMobile forums.

I can listen to it on the computer and also when I change the phone. The thing is I enjoy using this phone, want to be solved on this phone. I have been listened to it for 1 month until it disconnected on Dec. 24, 2021, I can still listen to other radios on this phone.

Maybe contact the app provider support? As this has nothing to do with Public Mobile service.

If the sound is not working on the app. Below is a link you can stream Fairchild Iplus Radio. (Hopefully that is the station you're looking for)

HI @jerry11   is that a Fairchild or you listen to Fairchild via another app , if so, what is the name?

is the radio working when you are using Wifi ONLY?

Please also go to App info and click Clear Cache and clear data.

Also, please try on another device, try it on both Wifi and Data

I take the battery off for 1 hour, then put it back, turn of the phone, still no sound, but other's radios working well. Then I uninstall and reinstall the app, not working, either.

HI @jerry11   , sorry, what exactly you have tried?  Let us know what you did before we can suggest further.
