good morning,

I have been a customer for appr 10 years, faithful telus customer prior to that.

Have a great day.

@Daveey1   get a new sim card from Telus/Koodo store.  But call them before you go , not every store has it

@Daveey1  - are you a new customer or one that has been around awhile with working services prior to this?

I had this issue on Wednesday and just had to enable and disable airplane mode and then calls would come in just fine. I figured it might have been collateral damage from the outage on Monday..

But I see reading through the thread that OP has already rebooted and reset network settings. So I would like to hear confirmation if switching to 3G only mode helps or not.

@Daveey1

On your end it goes straight to voicemail. On the callers end there's a ring and a half. So unlike a phone that's is powered off, a blocked number, no connection, no network etc...where the caller hears no ring and it goes immediately to voicemail your caller hears it ring, then a half ring and then your voicemail picks up.....so it's acting like a declined call or the phone identifying calls as spam callers or something along those lines.... ? That's speculation on my part of course but that's not how a Sim card needing reprovisioning for example would divert calls to voicemail....they would be immediate.

Read this post by @Nezgar about your conditional and unconditional call forwarding....

Maybe they will read your thread and be able to offer some possible phone settings that may be causing this...?

This an interesting problem, and I assume you have already contacted an agent for help, but perhaps not yet. I am assuming that while you were trying all these help suggestions, you did shut down the phone, waited a few seconds and then restarted it yes?  If you haven't you should.

One other thing is that phone could be connected to another audio device, other than the iPhone, like headphones, or  Airplay speaker etc.  To check,  swipe to open Control Centre and tap on the Airplay icon in the Music pane.  It's the triangle with 3 circles.  Make sure that the iPhone icon is check marked, and not some other device.

Sometimes ringtones get corrupted as well so you might want to switch to another one to test that theory.

Since you already tried resetting Network Settings with no luck, you might want to try Reset All Settings instead,  which will often successfully solve this and other problems. This will not erase your data, but will reset your personalization settings.  Good luck.

it doesn't ring at all nor does it show up as a missed or received call, just straight to voice mail and i don't hear anything

@Daveey1  Again, if you have another phone, test it with the PM Sim card

And test your phone in different area to rule out the possibility that it might be a local 3G network issue

If none of these works, as many has suggested, you can reach out to support and have them to check , to repovision your sim.   So, if you have not done so, please open a ticket to engage them

thanks for the info. I have tried them all with no luck. Even removed my sim card and went factory settings, Not sure why but on Monday everything just changed.

BTW.....your phone is not going straight to voicemail.  You get a ring and a half then your voice message plays.....check your call forwarding settings.

How about a bit of logic here.  According to your statement your phone doesn't ring,  but you are getting voicemails.  So clearly you are receiving phone calls, but you just aren't hearing your phone ring.  That being the case, and since you have an iPhone, the most common reasons for that are:

1:  Because the ringer switch on your phone is turned off. That would be the switch on the left side of the phone near the top. Check that first and make sure it is in the ON position. We have all done that by mistake.

2: The sound is too low.  Check your volume control and adjust it up if needed.

3:  You have set the phone to "Silence Unknown Callers".  To check that go into Settings, Phone, and scroll down to the Silence Unknown Callers line and see if it is on or off.

Try those 3 things first and see how you go.

There  other possibilities as well, so you might look at some suggestions that others have provided, such as ones that Halimacs has mentioned.

@Daveey1

  1. Where are you located?
  2. When did this problem start occurring?
  3. When was your last renewal?
  4. Did you change your network to 3G?
  5. Can you make outgoing calls without issue?
  6. Is your mobile data or SMS/MMS texting affected?
  7. When was your last iOS update? Is it the latest one?
  8. Have you tested your Sim card in a different device?

@Daveey1

do you see incoming calls working in another area?

do you have another phone to test the PM sim ?

it will be good to put the PM sim card in another phone and test.  It will force a sim re-provisioning and it will clear up issues.

We’re just consumers like you, not PM staff.

Re calls going straight to voicemail, try these fixes:

  1. ensure airplane mode is not enabled

  2. ensure do not disturb is not enabled

  3. ensure ringer volume turned up
  4. ensure the number calling you is not on a blocked senders list

  5. disable any call-forwarding features/settings

  6. turn off Bluetooth -- it's possible the 'ringing' is going through to a Bluetooth device instead of device's speakers

  7. remove and reinsert your SIM card

  8. reset network connections

To change to 3G and test:

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Mobile Data.
  3. Select Mobile Data Options.
  4. Select Voice & Data.
  5. To enable 3G, select 3G.

Check to see if the phone connects to 3G network at all with such settings, then test incoming calls

Also, you might want to reseat your sim card once (power down the phone, take sim card out for a minute, then put it back and power up)
