FaceTime is available in almost all countries around the world, with the exception of the United Arab Emirates. To use FaceTime in Saudi Arabia, an ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌ must be running iOS 11.3 or later, and to use FaceTime in Pakistan, devices must run iOS 12.4 or later.

Devices purchased in certain Middle Eastern countries will also block FaceTime if a SIM card from a non Middle Eastern country is inserted. FaceTime Audio is not available in China. All iPhones and iPads sold in China are limited to the standard FaceTime with video feature.

Note that if you purchase an ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌ in China or the United Arab Emirates and then attempt to use it in another country, the FaceTime features listed above will be disabled. Purchasing an ‌iPhone‌ from China or the Middle East is not recommended unless you live in those places.

I believe that you can download FaceTime as an app. Some countries don’t allow FaceTime. Thus no app on your phone or it was deleted. It will only help prove if you have a mic problem or not. Try FaceTiming a friend using the audio only option to test.

I did think of that, but to be fair, I have been using it in Canada for over a year and a half yet these issues only started about 3 months ago.

@BFos12  This is not a Canadian model iPhone this could be the issue too as it may not have all the same bands that PM uses .

Okay... great suggestions.  I don't have FaceTime on my phone as it was purchased in the Middle East.  Also, a lot of businesses will only use Mobile, so....

Gently vacuum out you mic. Is your case covering your mic? I have similar issue with an iPhone XR. I have done a back up, erase, restore and that did correct it temporarily. Another thing to try.  Be in same location and try to call over wifi using FaceTime audio only.

Don't laugh... but I cannot seem to get 'Voice and Data' settings on my phone.  It isn't there (I went to 'Settings', then to 'Cellular' then to 'Cellular Data', but the only options there are 'Off' or "Primary' and then at the bottom 'Allow Cellular Data Switching'.  What am I missing?!!  🙄

iPhone 13 Pro. And 2 bars... I even have an extender.... but it doesn't seem to do much good.

What make and model of phone?
How many bars do you have?

Thank you!  I'm hoping that some of these help.

Sincere thanks to all.  🙂 🙏

Yes... good shout.  It seems to only happen in my home.  What could be the issue???  No metal roof, not in the basement.  I live close to the cell tower. ???

None of my neighbours has this issue, but none is using Public Mobile lol.

I appreciate your patience @Dunkman .  On the cell tower map you provided, there isn't a Telus tower for MILES AND MILES from me (hours in driving distance).  There is a Bell tower right in my small town however.  It does seem to be the worst right in my own home.  I am on LTE, when not on Wifi.  Obviously in my home, the Wifi takes over.  Can this be the problem?  Sorry, I am obviously a tech-dolt.

@BFos12

No Wifi should not be the issue.

In smaller towns and rural areas, the quality of reception can vary.  What about your neighbours?  Do they have the same issue?  Which mobile company do they use?

The only thing connected is my Apple Watch.  I have removed and reinstated it.  Will this help?

I don't have a basement;  I have the whole house.  It seems to have better reception in certain areas of the house.  No metal roof.  It does seem the problem is localized to usage in my home.

@BFos12  Bell and telus share towers , do you happen to live in the basement of a house by any chance or have a metal roof . ? If you go outside your home does it work better ?

@BFos12

iPhone 13 supports VoLTE which should provide better voice calling.

Is this issue at one specific location or at different locations?

Are you on the 3G network or LTE?  What does it say on your phone. You may want to manually select LTE network even though you are on 3G plan.  That should get your service VoLTE service.

Might want to check your nearest cell tower.

Maybe in your specific area, the nearest cell tower is farther away.

Oh, @DDM69 , I missed a few things.  This almost always occurs when I'm in my home.  I only have a Mac computer and sonos speakers for other devices.  I have checked the mic, it is fine.  I have repeatedly powered down and restarted.

@BFos12  so this was a new promo plan you got text to reply YES for ?   try your network setting to  3G or 5G and see if that helps . Test your phone for voLTE by putting network to LTE and make phone call on speaker phone do you see the LTE icon on top of phone or does it drop to 3G

Hello!  Everyone is so kind.  Thank you @DDM69 @esjliv @Handy1 @Dunkman !!  I have an iPhone 13 Pro.  My plan is:  5GB at 3G Speed, 30-day plan, Unlimited Canada-wide Talk, Unlimited International Text.  My voice comes and goes intermittently when using a mobile call;  it seems fine with WhatsApp.  This has been happening for sometime.  Everything else works fine.  I'm sorry, but I don't know about volTE.  Is this enough info?

As mentioned by others...more details are needed.  The cause could be many things.

Specific location, interference from other devices, connection issues, device software issues, speaker issue on the device, calling within an app, network selection, sim card...

What have you tried so far?

@BFos12 - do you have anything connected via bluetooth to your phone? If so, remove devices and try again.

@BFos12  What plan are you on ? Maybe try putting your network to 3G and se if that helps with voice also do you know if voLTE is enabled . You can test this by putting the phone network to LTE and make a call does it drop to 3G or stay in LTE if it stays in LTE voLTE is enabled . And make sure your phones mic is not turned off

@BFos12

More details would be helpful.

Which model phone do you have?  Does your phone support VoLTE? Any issues with text and data? New problem versus old?

Might want to try a reboot of phone. Or try your PM Sim card in another working phone. That would help determine whether hardware issue versus PM service problem.
