Hi

I have the $55 for 4gig plan but I am interested in the $50 for 6gig but not sure about the 3g.  Is my current $55 for 4gig on 4g or 3g? and will i notice if its slower?

Now to update all the official posts to 3 from 2.5. :). And maybe even update the KB articles that still show 10day plans.

@Luddite thanks.

But I would be careful when posting that the service is 3 instead of 2.5, because should telus fix the bug, there might be some unhappy people.  maybe  put a little disclaimer, 3g is 2.5 ( but people are reporting getting 3). Because Your statement "Capped speed is now 3 not 2.5 Mbps. " makes it sound official.

@mimmo Announcement?? Robot LOL Maybe it's actually a good bug that has crept into the system; we'll never know.

We NEVER ask for official confirmation of good quirks. Just run with them until Telus finds out!

@Luddite when was the speed increased?  Did I miss an announcement?

@mamclelland, I agree with @NDesai - the 3G plan should be more than sufficient for your needs.

You could hedge your bets by signing up for just a month; prov calling, texting, 1+1 GB for $42.

Then you won't see any difference/problems with the 3G (3mbps) data plan.

That video is too simplistic and misleading. The difference is more than that.

Hi @mamclelland,

What do you typically do on your phone?

Do you just browse and play games or do you like to watch/stream videos? That will help determine if the 3G plans will be sufficient for your needs.

I believe you old plan is 4g. If you specifically didn't sign up for a 3g plan then you have full LTE. The 3g is actually ltd but throttled down to 2.5.

There are a couple threads on speed comparisons. But to sum up most people don't notice much of a difference. Unless uploading or downloading things on data.

Search for 3g vs LTE this is the official thread but there are others https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Knowledge-Base/3G-vs-4G-LTE-What-speed-is-right-for-y...

If you are really concerned the falesafe way is to buy a new sim and buy 30 day 3g data and test it out. But that will cost a little bit of money.
