I now want to transfer everything from my old phone to the new one. The old phone has a Telus-related SIM which I do not want to use on the new phone. My thinking is that once I have done the data transfer to the new phone I would insert the PM SIM card. My assumption is that since my account is currently activated I would be able to use my new phone on Public Mobile right away with the telephone number I now have with PM. Thanks again.
Thanks for the extra details since that helps clarify things. Just need to insert your previously activated PM Sim card (from September) into your new phone.

@keithrjoyce depends if you are a PM customers already
different situations:
1. If you already have an old phone with an active/working PM SIM, you can in fact just move the PM SIM from the old phone to the new phone. (You don't really need to use the new SIM at all. )
2. If you are already a customer, but you don't have the old SIM (maybe you dropped your phone and lost the old SIM), then you will need to go to My Account to request a Change SIM card
3. if you are not a PM customer yet, then you will have to activate your account with PM first
So, which situation in your case? Let us know and we can walk you through

You need to select a plan and activate your sim.

Are you an existing customer with Public mobile? If so, just put the PM Sim card from your old phone into your new phone. You don't need to purchase a new SIM card. Looks like from previous post, you new phone is a iPhone 13 Max, which is compatible with PM.
If you are not a customer, you will need to activate a new SIM card/account.

Did you buy your phone from PM?
If so, just putting your existing SIM card in should work right away.
If you bought it from some other places, I hope you've checked its compatibility with PM network first.

Did u register your new SIM card yet. If not , u need to set up the account and get your phone number.
If the SIM already registered ( had an account with PM). Yes, it simply put your SIM card in, it should be working.
I hope it can help.
Have a wonderful day/
